Beretta Xtrema, not cycling light loads

Last dove season, about halfway thru the shoot, my Xtrema began failing to cycle Winchester 1 1/8oz, 1200fps 2 3/4" shells. After a brief inspection, cleaning (was quite clean already), I put it up 'til turkey season. Well this dove season, it only cycled 2 out of about 35 shots with the same shells. Earlier in it's life it, this gun cycled these loads fine and has only a total of about 500 rounds thru it now.

The gun is very clean and the gas exhaust ports in the bottom of the barrel are completely free. Does anyone know much about these guns to suggest something else to check or try? Would there be any reason why a different brand of similar shells would behave better? Thanks for looking.

I have a Franchi 12 ga. semi-auto. It shoots perfectly, with only a little problem processing cheap steel. However, I cannot "unload" the gun, if that makes sense. I can eject the first shell from the barrel, but the gun won't move the second shell up to the chamber to be ejected.

Any thoughts on what mechanically should be causing this, should I just bring it to another gunsmith?

thanks

Does anyone have any experience or information on the Browning B2000?

A friend is looking at trading for one and we dont really know anything about it. I know they were imported in the late 70's through the mid 80's but dont know too much about them in general.

I dont have a picture at the moment, but google searches have brought up a bunch of them. It has some kind of port on the left hand side of the receiver. not really sure what that is.

Lets hear it Shotgun Guru's!

Well, I'm going to stock up on a good bit of 12ga ammo so I can not suck so bad at moving targets. For a while, it was too damn expensive to practice.

Anyways - most of these rounds will be used for target practice - shooting clays and such. I would like them to be able to take small game (small birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc) if need be.

I wouldn't expect there to be MUCH of a difference, but is one shot size better than the other?

I have a question about my Remington 870 Express and I hope someone can help. On the barrel it says, "shells 2 3/4" and 3" for magnum receivers." So I checked the receiver of my 870 and don't see the word "magnum" anywhere. However, it does have an "M" at the end of the serial number. Does this mean its a magnum?

I hope so. I shot a few magnums out of it and hope I didn't hurt it.

First, yes, I know. It's ridiculous and almost impractical. But I like it.

After years of regretting trading my Mossberg, pistol grip, 20 gauge Cruiser years ago, I figured I should have a home defense shotgun around the house. So, I found one here on the forums and bought it. A Winchester 1300 Speed Pump from Leethar. I didn't know much about Winchesters, but the price was right, the barrel length was only 18 or 20in, it held a lot in the tube, so I jumped on it. It also had the green fiber optic front sight. Well, when I saw it in person, I realized the gun was practically brand new.

It came with the Winchester stock black forend which had to go. I wanted a pistol grip only, so the ATI 6-position stock and pistol grip had to go too. I wanted a forend with rails attached, but most stuff seemed like cheap plastic.

I replaced the forend with a nice Hogue one. I knew I wanted a recoil-reducing Knoxx pistol grip, but in the end chose their copstock pistol grip with wire over-folder...

I knew I wanted a recoil-reducing Knoxx pistol grip, but in the end chose their copstock pistol grip with wire over-folder (just in case I needed a long shot or something). Plus, I found a Knoxx folder new, cheap and with the Hogue rubber grip already on it (police and military OEM). The folder stock doubles as a carrying handle. Then I added some Uncle Mike's sling swivels. I wanted a padded sling that carries ammo, especially since the folding stock doesn't allow for a side carrier. I could have gotten one for $10 online, but at a gun show I found the nice people from Valor Arms making high-quality, USA made ones for $20. Got that.

I then added a tube-mounted, round, picatinny/weaver mount that would hold up to 3 attachments. I definitely wanted a tac light, so I got a 170 lumen LED one with the rail clamp built into it so it didn't stick out too far. When I got it, I opted for the manual switch instead of the pressure pad. But still, the gun wasn't ridiculous enough, so I got a green laser for it. Just in case, ya know, I needed a daytime shot in the folded position at 20 yds or something...

Ammo: I heard about Aguila mini-shells and then found out that the only gun they cycle in correctly (without modification) was a Winchester 1300. Plus, needing to max this thing out in capacity, I bought a few boxes of their buckshot. I can fit 12 in the tube. I also have some 2 3/4 buck just for the hell of it. I found Aguila birdshot and slugs cheap at the same gun show, so bought that as well. Ammo belt and bandoleer were added for cheap too. Carrybag? $10, Academy.

So, finally, it's just about done. I might get a rail-mounting sling holder to move the sling to the side, instead of between the light and laser. Then I could move the light below to reduce the silly front width of this thing. It just needs a flame thrower or grenade launcher attached to it now... Pics.

Well I guess new to me is the proper phrase to use. I got this yesterday and I think it is just too neat. It is a Remington model 11 in 12 gauge that has been chopped up into a whippet style gun. I called Remington yesterday and their records have it being made in 1914; not bad looking for its age. I really like the style of it, really puts you back in time to the mobsters and depression era outlaws.

Jerry Miculek was shooting a shotgun with something called the XRAIL on the end. It let him shoot 23 rounds with no reload. I've never seen this before.
I was wondering how it works, for instance how does it push the shells down the magazine tube, or get around the springs usually needed.
Anyone have any info? I went to their web site but could not find the answer.

Firing pin problems

I have a Franchi I-12 (the inertia drive) and as of this past weekend am having a problem with it. I shot some clays to start getting ready for hunting season and several of the shells (albeit cheap Wal-Mart low brass) did not fire. The primer indicated a faint dent. I attempted to re-shoot one of the shells without any luck.

I then loaded the same (twice shot) shell into an 870 and had no problems firing it on the first pull.

My question is what to do: 1) Might this be something I can resolve myself? 2) Should I send it off to the factory for the shipping and insurance cost (and potential for more costs) while possibly not having it in time for the season? or 3) can anyone recommend a gunsmith that could help out on this in the Metairie/New Orleans area?

TIA

soooooooo. ive been lookin at shotguns lately. and ive been thinking about getting one. the one that i keep going back to is the mossberg 500 spx 12 gauge 6 shot. now, ive never owned a shotgun b4, all i have right now is a handgun. so i dont know what would qualify as an ideal home protection shotgun. im not a hunter, so it wont be used for that type of activity. so what do yall think? :)

Restoring a Winchester Model 50 20 gauge that was in Katrina?

About a week after Katrina hit, my cousin made his way down to Slidell and went through my grandma's house to recover what he could. My grandpa had a display cabinet full of rifles and shotguns and that was the first thing my cousin grabbed.

I asked him a few months ago if I could have one of the guns to fix up and to keep to have something to remember my grandfather by. Today he gave me a Winchester Model 50 20 gauge shotgun that my grandpa purchased in 1957 (according to the serial number).

The finish is rough and I want to restore it but I'm not exactly sure how. I figure there's a way to remove the wood and sand it down and refinish it but how do I go about fixing the discolorations in the metal?

I'm afraid to fire it since it was in a house flooded by Katrina. How exactly can I tell if it's safe to fire? I assume bring it to a gunsmith and have them inspect it?

I would love to get it back in like new condition and maybe get a case for it and get a little metal...

I would love to get it back in like new condition and maybe get a case for it and get a little metal plate that has "in memory of" engraved on it. Maybe I could end up passing it onto my own son if I ever settle down and if not my nephew.

Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can offer :)

I have a Winchester Mod 12, 16 gauge. Judging from the serial # it was made in 1914. It is in pretty good condition, fully functional. Any idea about what its worth? I cant post a pic right now unfortunately.

Siaga 12ga. Vs 20ga.?

I would like to hear some opinions on the differences (pros/cons) of the Siaga 12 and 20.

I would lean towards the 20 due to the recoil.
However there is a lot better selection of mags for the 12ga.
