    The 22-250 intrigues me.

So just throw me a bone here. Any do's or do not's surrounding this round?

    Availability? Price? etc?

    Thanks in Advance/

Have been considering getting one for a while now. Never committed to a rifle though. Buddy of mine uses it for varmint and it does really well.

Compared to the 223.....the 22-250 shoots faster, flatter, longer, & hits harder.

You can get up to & over 4000fps out of the muzzle!

Rounds are seemingly always on the shelf to purchase....even during the crazy time

Every major rifle manufacturer offers a 22-250 chamber.

It'll knock the life out of anything up to and including a deer with excellent shot placement (headshot).

Super accurate. It's about as close as you can get to a laser beam!

Tons of bullets and data if you're into hand loading.

I'm glad I have one already because I'd just talked myself into getting one.

A question of my own now.....I wonder why there's no offering in a semi auto magazine fed platform? The 243 is being used in the AR. Why not the 22-250? Because of the shoulder on the brass maybe? It's pretty severe.

Always 2-3 boxes of ammo on the shelf at the Amb Caffery Walmart here in Lafayette.

Yup. Seems like it was ALWAYS in stock, everywhere I went during the big panic days. The "exploding deer head" thing seemed pretty convincing, too. (sorry, I misunderstood the caliber used in the other thread.)

Gemtech 5.56 suppressors can be used on .22-250 if the barrel is over 18 inches long.

Years ago on a deer hunting weekend I had a problem with the sights on my rifle. A friend let me use his Ruger 22-250 with Manlicher stock. I killed a nice 4 point buck that needed to be taken off the lease. He ran a distance but died in mid air appaerntly and was in the crook of a tree about 30 yds from being shot.

Nobody has yet touched on the downside to the 22-250 yet so I'll be the bearer of bad news. Depending on HOW you shoot the gun you can expect a barrel life of 900-1500 rounds. Shooting competition style (20 rounds in 10-15min.) will have you on the low end of that. If they're all hunting rounds then you can count on it being higher. This also depends on how accurate you're willing to settle for. Most guys are happy with "minute of Skoal can" at 50 paces and that may give you an additional 500 or so shots if that's all you want. There's a price to pay for that kind of speed.
