Well, my friend who is a cop came to my house for thanksgiving dinner, and being that we're both into firearms, I showed him my gun collection. While showing him, he noticed how much ammo I had and jokingly said I should be the local academy/walmart for ammo. He told me there was a limit to how much ammo a person could have in his home. I looked around but couldnt really find an exact answer on how much ammo you are allowed to own in your home by law. So, what is the limit?

Ask your cop buddy to show you the regs on that one. Put the burden of proof on him. If you need me to hold your ammo for you it's no problem.

When you start tripping over it, or it starts falling out of your house, you need a bigger house, or need to do some shooting. There is no limit on ammo. But, if you are worried about it, I will give a good home to any wayward 9mm, .45ACP, .38 Super, 6.8SPC, or 12 guage shells if you want to comply with imaginary laws. :)

Oh, and .22lr and .22 mag.

There's certainly no limit on how much you can own, but some stores have a limit on how much you can buy so people don't buy the store's entire stockpile and create a shortage like what they did with .22 ammo.

From the sound of it though, your friend wasn't talking about that and was instead talking out his ass.

Don't know of any law, but if you're stockpiling a metric shitton of ammo or powder/primers, I sure as hell wouldn't let my homeowners insurance agent know about it!;)
