Hard to go wrong with any of them these days. For my money the Ford, but unless I was hauling a whole lot all the time I'd look really hard at the Dodge 1500 diesel.

If Ford would put a v6 turbo diesel in the new aluminum F-150... best truck ever? 30 mpg? The Dodge is getting real world 25+...

    I have had 3 Chevys,
    2003 - 334,000 miles
    2006 - 242,000
    2014 3500 SRW - 47,000
Overloaded about 1/2 the time and pulling a utility trailer a bunch.
    No major issues.

On the farm we have run 2 dodge and 2 gmc 3/4 ton diesels.

Dodges have given a lot of front end trouble! Engine wise the older cummins ran great, the newer blue tech was very troublesome.
Mine is an 09 gmc last model pre def. 130,000 miles mostly trouble free. AC repair and a seal went out in my fuel filter housing.
I generally get hooked up to the heavy trailers for on and off road towing.

    Pics because.

I currently have a Ram 2500 Megacab. I bought it in 2010 and immediately installed programmer and deleted the emissions. Im currently getting 20MPG with a 5" lift and 37" tires. Its the best truck Ive ever owned.

With that being said, I love GM more than Dodge but in 2010, GM didnt offer any model that I liked, and Fords prices were sky-high. So since this poll is about todays new models and if price is not an option, I voted Chevy. I REALLY like the new models.

Don't buy a diesel unless you need one

Why is that? Whats not to benefit from heavy duty components, longevity of a diesel engine, a turbo, ability to hook to almost any trailer thats not meant for a Semi, having an engine or exhaust brake, and fuel economy? Diesel engines can produce tons of power with simple bolt on mods. (More gains per component) than a gas engine. And now, diesels are coming as an option in half tons.

What I said if you don't NEED one. A lot buy them to be cool. If you need one you need one. I see too many people at my buddy's shop crying when it's time to fix them.

As a work truck they are great but some purchase a one ton four wheel drive diesel and add a programmer, lift kit, vertical exhausts behind the cab and 50# nuts on the rear and use them as every day transportation and never use the truck as a work truck. I can see the newer light duty diesel trucks becoming more popular for general transportation as most pickups are used today.

Icurrently have a f250 crew cab diesel with the 7.3 diesel. I pull a 30' camper around the USA. I personally have taken a survey of trucks around the country that are pulling RV's and have concluded that about 80% of rv'ers use Ford diesel Super Duties. Have talked to 100's of R
v'ers about their experiences and all like their trucks. If u get to Camp grounds around the country all u have to do is look around especially if u get up in the mountains.

2002 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4x4 with Allison 5 Speed...Injectors started leaking into the crankcase, At 8yrs old with 73K miles GM's warranty would not cover any of the $5K cost for replacing them...STRIKE ONE! Still going strong at 102K miles.

Completely depends on year and model/engine.

Ask a Ford Tech why they love 6.0/6.7 so much...

I work on diesel every day and would recommend a Cummins all day long.

A guy was at my buddy's shop last week and he said he spent I think $9400 "fixing" his 6.0
