Yes! Fundraising would complicate things. I was leaning toward something like a united show of community support!

Can you imagine how many people would stop by, or donate food and money for a cookout to show appreciation? It would be huge.

Now, that being said; I don't know if they would want to gather those types of crowds or attention in one place with all of this stuff still simmering in the air; but it would send a strong message!

BTW: I just called the Kleinpeter Substation to buy those guys lunch, and someone is already bringing them boxed lunches! The desk personon the phone told me that a lot of people are offering!

Well with a lot of people already offering if we gave it a week or two to plan a cookout it would also likely allow for tensions to subside a little.

Kind of like the Night Out against Crime; we could do Cook Out for Cops! ;)

We would probably need permission from a higher up over there to do something like that I bet.

If we can work it out, I like that idea. They would not have to go out of their way.

Ironic how we are concerned about properly getting permission to use the property for a lunch of appreciation while others feel it's a right to block a highway. Yey good guys!

*edit* and we should keep it classy. No megaphones, no open carry, no confrontations, no political point, just a thank you.

How about a nice shooting weekend at Honey Island or any other outdoor range. Instead for the normal 6 bucks entry, make it 20 or so bucks, and all proceeds go to the local law enforcement. There's that little covered area they hold classes under, have that set up with food and drinks. Hell, it could be cheap things like water, coke, and hot dogs, and sell those with all proceeds going to law enforcement. I would LOVE to hang out with like minded individuals, and have a nice day shooting my guns and also shooting the breeze.

I know of a ton of LEO that wouldn't step foot on Honey Island's range.

If you want to show support, show support. Money isn't an issue, it's morale. You see an officer while you're out and about, tell him/her that you appreciate what they do and that you are thankful they are here, that you support them. Nothing boosts morale like knowing the community backs them.

If that is the way to go, that would leave a lot of time to get things in order. I could foresee this shindig being gigantic; particularly if we announce our plan to the general public. But again, someone will have to bounce that off of the chief probably. There West side parking lot is gigantic, and could easily accommodate a large gathering of supportive interest! ;)

Hell, you could get party rental stores to donate the tents, cooking supply companies to donate pots, everything!

See I think this is a good time to OC, and remind both the police and the rest of the world that there are a lot of well armed good individuals there ready to have their backs.
But a set of rules would need to be stricky adhered to. Rules like holstered handguns on well groomed well dressed people only.

Tents. As in canopy type not camping. Lol......
Other stuff needed would be tables and chairs, Ice chests, Ice, refreshments, disposables(plates, utensils, napkins, condiments).
If we can get a venue nailed down we can proceed to having a meeting to discuss specifice.
I spoke t someone at a food distributor co. and can get some stuff donated from them. I'm sure we could get others to donate.
    Anyone else have any contacts?

I disagree on OC for this type of event.

I know it aint about the 2nd Ammendment, its about showing support and I'm down with that, but it could be done right. I conceed if not "self policed" heavily it could be a stupid fest and thats not what we are after. Again its not about me or the 2ndA so if no one else sees an upside it will let OC idea die here.

You are putting the cart before the horse.

First, someone needs to call Chief Dabadie and see if he would want this, or if he even if he legally could do this over there. If he says it is a great idea, and thinks it would be a much needed morale boost, then we nail down a day (preferably a Sunday), and THEN we can worry about the supplies. Trust me, that will be the easiest part of a party like this.

You are correct. The last thing he may wanna see is any type of crowd even if it's for a good cause. I also agree it won't be hard to get local stores to donate.

Blue ribbons on everyones car antenna just like the yellow ribbons for our servicemen. In fact blue ribbons everywhere as a simple show of support. OOPS just noticed this was already mentioned but to take it further keep a roll of blue ribbon material in your vehicle to let others that support the idea make a ribbon for their vehicle on the spot. I support some specific day to do something per the OP but the blue ribbons could be a national sign of support that is actually easy enough to do and could catch on quickly. I am going to check my christmas wrapping box for blue ribbon and go "tie one on" right now.

The dichotomy of it all is a giant crowd of support would do wonders for many reasons! It would show the city, the state, and the country that the entire BR metro is on their sides! It would be great to show a untied front for true respect and true peace! On the other hand, a giant crowd would be a possible logistical problem.

That being said, you cannot let the haters win! To not try to do this would show weakness.

That is on the top of the list. They are apparently quite busy today but I will try again throughout the afternoon.

My point is just I would go with the flow of what the Chief thinks. They have a lot going on right now and I'm sure even a good crowd can/may add to the stress. But hey he might love the idea in that case I say it's a great idea.

"Tie One On" Blue ribbons for support of our Police

Ok I found a small piece of blue ribbon and got this started. I sent this idea to Donald Trump through every contact I could find except Twitter and Facebook which I do not do. If you do Twitter or Facebook please send along this idea to "Tie One On" to anyone you know and to anyone connected to the Trump campaign.
