147gr 9mm FP

Looking to load some soft shooting plinking 9mm.

I have the following powders:

Bullseye
Unique
Titegroup
231
HS-6

What do you guys have experience with?!

Gun is a Gen3 Glock 22 with Conversion barrel.

I loaded up on federal suppressor ammo in 300AAC and 9mm a few years back and it’s great ammo. The 9mm is 124gr that obviously uses a smaller powder charge than the standard 147gr subsonic and just because commercial ammo is mostly 147gr doesn’t mean you have to stick to that bullet weight. If you can’t find any load data all you need is a chronograph and some patience. If you keep the velocity around 1000 fps from a 4-6 inch barrel, you’ll have plenty of room to keep it subsonic in longer barrels.

The 124gr is a lot softer and quieter and I’ve had zero feed issues. It’s round nose ammo. No reason why you couldn’t also use 115gr if your pistol is sprung for subs. The flat tip ammo doesn’t always feed well in carbines either.

If this is for the bullets you received from me, disregard the OAL as the Lyman bullet is shorter. Try seating to: 1.145-1.152 Taper crimp at .377-.378

Looks like 4lbs of titegroup is gonna last me a long time! Lol

For what it’s worth….
I have been loading Donnie’s 147 grain FP’s with 3.5 grains of TiteGroup
Have notes where I increased the OAL to 1.150
Been shooting them in an STI and a Sig MPX, could probably go softer but damn they slam the steel plates
Here comes the disclaimer-Don’t blindly follow any reloading recipes on the web without working up your own ladder

3.0grs was perfect! Shot some this past weekend & it will be perfect for plinking!
