    Not my longest, but;
    submitted F4 on 11-20-2020
approved 07-10-2021, AFT "lost" orig form, had to order certified copies,
finally got the cert copy 11-19-21.

    Ouch.

They last person at ATF that I spoke to said that the wait time is averaging about 8 months right now. I'm at about nine months ... so fingers crossed that the paperwork just got extra-busy when I submitted, and that things aren't lost.

We tell people 10-14 months. Don’t know when eF4s will come online but when they do they will hopefully be faster.

    Mike,
The ATF on line F1 efile website is currently down, I have been getting ATF emails on updates since I have completed several F1 efiles. F1 efile is set to resume 12-23-21 @ 0600. Form 4 efile is also to resume very soon, after this complete ATF overhaul/new software install. F4 e-file was suspended in 2015. So the fingerprint kiosks and e-file mechanism should spring back up soon at brick and mortar Class 3 dealers. My first paper F4 was submitted/mailed 12-3-20 and approved in just < 7 months. Guess I got lucky.

All the efile forms will come back at the same time when they bring the site back up. It was supposed to be today but was pushed to Thursday and my (and most other guys I’ve spoken to in the NFA industry) guess is it will be pushed again.

Over the last year we’ve seen F4 approvals range from 3 months to 20 months with the vast majority clustering in the 10-14 month range.

We really hope this efile system will be faster and that the website will be stable and responsive but those of us who lived through efile F4s last time and were waking up at 3 AM to enter forms are pretty skeptical. The government generally sucks at everything including websites. They’ve been working on this new site for years now and still they didn’t make the launch date.

I've only been at this for 4 items since 2019
    First one took 1 year
    Second one took 5 months
Third and Fourth bought the same day took 10 months with stamp approvals two days apart

if your application gets pulled for FBI review, you can expect 12+ month wait. mine took ~14.
Yep people who get delayed on a 4473 are taking longer from what I am seeing. My coworker is waiting on a Form 1 for like 5 plus months for the same reason. He emailed Clutter and got in touch with a examiner and this was explained to him.

I expect the Eform4 website to rollout like the ObamaCare website did. Years to develop, untold millions, cant even process simple data fields.

I just registered for the new eForms website. It feels ... odd. Doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.

It's almost as if the government knows that there's companies that can roll websites out to millions of users without a hitch ... and they choose to ignore that completely and reinvent the wheel.

I think they know exactly what they are doing. Why use a tested and functional source code when you can get one of your buddies companies to write one from scratch, and then amend it an untold number of times with no penalty.. and charging for each rendition.

Anyone else have a Form 4 that is taking forever? Mine has been in the pipes since last March 24.

    Mike
Yup, my check was cashed end of February. A lot of folks are getting them back and they were in March. Slightly disappointing but not completely unexpected. I think the trend when I got it was about 7 months but maybe there are more being bought with all that *free* government money.

Bought my last can on March 13, 2021. Tax stamp check was cashed on March 24, 2021. BATF approved my application on March 7, 2022.

So yeah, 357 days from purchase to approval.
