This one will be interesting to see if it catches on.

looks like S&W are making pistols for it now.

”The .312-inch-diameter projectile used in 30 Super Carry delivers the same muzzle energy as 9mm Luger, with ballistic performance and penetration that far exceeds that of 380 Auto. The dimensions allow chambering in handguns with reduced grip circumference and smaller overall size, yet still offer more magazine capacity than 9mm Luger.“

Just in time to not be on the shelves like all the other calibers!;)
Mostly everything has been on the shelves pretty regularly at Academy. The issue is the price of everything. I saw 2 brands of .45acp today for $32.99 for 50rd boxes of fmj. 9mm varied from $17.99-$21.99 for fmj. They also had 200rd boxes of Winchester M855 5.56 for $139.99. 50rd boxes of Norma tac22 .22lr for $9.99. Also saw some 308, 380, 40, 38 special and a handful of different hunting calibers

The prices online are better than the big box stores and some offer free shipping after spending a certain amount. I use ammoseek or ammobuy to find the best prices before ordering.

I'm not in frequently, but hit both Academy and Sportsman's Warehouse within the last month and neither had much of anything other than shotgun shells. It's not that they didn't have some little bit of 9mm or .45, but only a couple boxes of a couple of choices. I'm just pining for the return of American abundance that I'm used to, because Freedom, damnit! I'm tired of "this is all there is, take it or leave it, and if you take it, no more than two boxes allowed."

I was looking at it the other night. I thought all pistol calibers were a compromise as this one is, but it might have made a bigger impression if it doubled capacity while approaching 9mm performance.

I don’t think it would be possible to double capacity and keep ballistic close to 9mm. You’d be looking at something similar in size to .22lr in order for that to be possible. Who knows what the future brings and what type of powders may one day be created but in today’s standards it seems next to impossible.

Unless there’s a price difference per round, I think this will be one of those niche market rounds that will be really slow to catch on, unless a LEO or Mil group gives it a run.

I know a lot of guys that carried and trained with the .40 craze. Once everyone figured you can get similar ballistic out of modern 9mm and get to carry 2 more rounds per mag (on average) they dropped the .40 and went back to 9mm.

2-3 additional rounds per mag can be a decision maker for a lot of folks and it appears that’s what they are banking on. Or expect to make bank on...

I am considering one for my wife. She can shoot the 9mm, but finds it a bit snappy for her wrists. I wonder if this would be an adequate compromise ... it beats hell out of carrying nothing.

I haven’t personally shot it yet but all the reviews I see from it is that felt recoil feels exactly the same as 9mm. That’s been pretty much what ever review I’ve watched on it says.
