So I made a deal with this guy and got him paid and he’s just disappeared. No response to calls , text at all. I’ve contacted Google Pay and they won’t do anything. Just wanted to give the admins a heads up that he’s a scammer.

well, you posted info publically - phone, so he is likely not a user. The email does not show up in the system FYI. Thanks for the heads up.

Anytime anybody text you from my phone number tell them go back online and PM you from Bayou Shooter account to verify feedback… otherwise like they said anybody can pick up your number and work a scam on you…. That’s why I typically I quit putting phone number and email I get tired of text messages at two in the morning, offering me the deals of a lifetime

I’m confused… So you sent someone you’ve never met or even talked to money before checking them out and verifying that they were members and a decent human being?

Anyone can look through the threads here with or without an account
This is why you do NOT post your phone number or email address so members are only able to contact you via PM

Another tell that it might have been a scam is that the area code is showing Ohio. Although that can't always tell the story as I have a California area code because I have had that cell number for almost 30 years.

That same phone number 330-828-6160 texted me a few days ago saying that he had a gun that I wanted from years ago. Looking at the area code I knew he wasn't local. I asked for his bayoushooter username and he never responded back, so pretty much knew he wasn't legit. Had another guy with number 405-860-0053 saying that he had a gun that I wanted from years back and again I asked for his bayoushooter username and he stated that he didn't have any. Blocked. Common sense will save you money in the long run. Purpose of bayoushooter is to sell/buy locally. If he's not local, I'm not buying.

Don’t pay someone before the goods are in your hands, only do face to face transactions unless your dealing with an established member who you’ve dealt with previously and even then I would be extremely cautious unless you know the person well, always start via PM and check feed back. It’s really actually kind of simple to avoid getting scammed.

Absolutely no reason to put any contact info in an add in the market place. If someone is interested in what your posting they will send you a PM.

Guy texted me about a Browning 22 I was looking for a good while back. Good price so told him I'd take it and meet to pick up. Said he was in Wisconsin (IIRC) and he'd mail to my FFL. Passed.
