3 YO shot and killed in the Quarter yesterday afternoon.

"Palumbo says he immediately called 911, but was put on hold twice."

“They did call back, within about a minute or so but the fact, to get a recording for 911 when you’ve got a child dying on the sidewalk is pretty ridiculous,” Palumbo said.

Or scroll down on the above linked WWL news article. Another man was stabbed to death on Julia St Tuesday too.

Dem statues should have been the least of their worries. 99.5% of shootings in NOLA are people of color murdering each other. Pics and video in the news reports tell the story.

Yea, most people in New Orleans passed those statues every day, and couldn't care less. Only the Politicians cared about them using them to further their agenda..

NOPD has made an arrest in this case. He is the victim's 18 yo brother, who had an active warrant for another murder. First murder warrant was issued 3-16-22. One of NO's finest.

I think they got that picture straight off of his application for the NASA Astronaut Program

When i see there is some pers in shot I think of the scene in the movie Falling Down where the car full of guys drive by shooting lime and and hit everything but what they intended to. Then wrecks the car

Michael Douglas walks up and yells at them thet shoots one in the leg. Says something like that's not hard see.

It was never said the statues would lower crime... Im glad they are down.. Why have statues of the ones who lost? Does Germany have statues up of Hitler and Nazi leaders? When we went to Iraq what was the first thing done by the locals and heavily celebrated here in the US? The toppling of Saddams statue. **** the Confederacy.

The point that was being made was a lot of money, time, and energy was put into taking the statues down. If that effort had been put toward crime, you may have seen a some decrease in the incidents of violence in the city. Instead the effort was put forht so that a FEW people would feel better. Nothing was actually accomplished. No one is better off then they were before the statues came down.

10-4. It was a career move by and for Mitch Landrieu. Landrieu had aspirations of running for POTUS or VP one day. So they took down the statues which paid homage to confederate heroes and leaders, yet the murders, the every days shootings and crime by blacks is rampant in the city. WWL posted an article on corruption by the mayor herself. NOLA government is rife with corruption: NOPSI, NOPD, the Assessor's office, and the Inspections Dept to name a few. The Hard Rock construction fell/collapsed killing workers BC the city inspector was pencil whipping inspections. Prob paid off.

Where is Mitch Landrieu anyways? Did somebody carjack and shoot him by chance? Or maybe he fled NOLA?

There has always been crime in New Orleans.. Through the years it's been better and worse.

The statues should have never been put up in the first place. I'm glad they are down. Losers don't get glory.

That is a form of justifying the rabid crime in NO today. Clearly the black on black shootings are up big time. They shoot/murder 4 or 5 on a weekend now. Every 2 days a body shows up somewhere in NOLA. The corruption in local gov and overall crime was no where near this 40 years ago. Not even close. I grew up in the city until age 18.

Not justifing it at all.. To correlate statues to dealing with the crime is a weak argument and won't be taken seriously.

You don't remember the crack epidemic of the.. What was it the 80s? 90s? Murder rate was sky high.

There is absolutely no reason a 911 call should not go straight through.

I agree, when people need help, there is no excuse for not being there. Just logistics, if you have 30 calls going in at one time, and you only have 10 operators, some calls will not be answered immediately. Imagine everything going on at the same time in the city, and people just dialing 911 when they need the Police because they don't have the normal phone number, the call center gets overwhelmed. Throw into that equation, 20 people calling at the same time because a shooting, etc happens on a crowded street. Many people are calling 911 at the same time for the same incident, not including the people calling for other incidents (emergency and non-emergency).
Once again, I agree 100% with you. There is no excuse for not answering a 911 call, but it happens-too often sometimes.
