So i have some quad rail furniture for the ak platform I picked up a while back. Originally to put on my m70b1 yugo ak. Well it didn't fit. So the past few nights I have been browsing the web for a romanian/wasr 2 slot handguard aks.
I really can't understand how the prices when so high. Not that long ago you could pick one up for 300/400 bones now I'm seeing 1200/2500 per rifle. What gives?

Ak stuff has been on a steady increase due to less and less imports coming in. Importers over the last 10 years have exhausted a lot of the European arsenals. Which probably explains why uli is buying up African arsenals now. I don’t think we will see sub $1k import aks anymore.

Any recommendations for a good inexpensive AK? Prices are so high right now.

I agree that AR’s are better rifles for sure, but something about the AK is just really cool to me. I think I like that it looks less refined and more rough. I’m not really sure why.

For down right geurilla warfare/reliability in all conditions, the AK imo is superior. A well built, properly setup AR is just capable though honestly. But yeah, the AK definitely has the rawness.... AR vs AK is kind of like the Ford vs Chevy thing. They both have their good/bad. It boils down to preference.

For sure. I like both for different reasons, I hope to own both one day. They are both admirable platforms with millions made on each side and both with extensive military service.

I have both ar and ak rifles. Both are fun to shoot but I like the AK better. Something about the violence of the AK cycling, kick, ejects shells 15 yards away, and I like the notched rear sight. Just seems like victory.

Zastava aks are about $1k. Check primary arms when they do the 12% off sale. Finding cool furniture for them is a pain because they’re different from regular AKs. PSA has the blem gf3 for $600-700 and different models for about $1k. Internet kids talk trash on them but if it breaks, psa will fix it. Ive got about 2k rounds through my akp and it’s been awesome. KUSA is making aks but they’re about $1200 if you can find them. And their QC has been declining due to demad increasing. WASR 10 can be found for about $800. Hope this helps

If you can find them, the Maadi rifles are nice with exception of the MISR90 abortion from Century

I have two Century CV39V2 aks, one with 18k rounds and one with 2k rounds. Only a few minor issues with these rifles. Went back to Century twice (each rifle one time), once on their dime and once on mine. Century sent replacement parts at no cost and did repairs at no cost. Just to be fair I do not follow the recommended maintenance schedule for change out of things like springs. Usually go four times replacement schedule and had a disconnecter spring break at five times recommended change out. I don't know how Century would treat second hand owners but the milled C39V2 has been a champ. I also have an arsenal SLR107 with 1800 rounds and it when back on my dime once already. A used Century might be a worthwhile look
