    I looked into the lottery hunt, but it noted they didn't plant field this year and require steel shot.

    I looked into the lottery hunt, but it noted they didn't plant field this year and require steel shot.
    I quit dove hunting because of that steel shot crap. All of the open land I use to hunt is now posted so no place to go where I can use lead shot. Low brass 20 gauge with 7.5 steel shot is good for about 10yds and you have to use a modern shotgun. It is absolute trash. I tried hunting with it several times.

    I think there is a paid dove place near Morgan City. I have not looked in a while.

    Check the hunting regs under WMAs. Several fields. All non-toxic shot. Sandy Hollow in Tangipahoa has two fields. The opening day is a youth hunt with adult supervision.

    I have always used lead #9 shot 12 ga. I can't find any non-lead shot in 12 ga. Only thing I saw was 20 ga. Monarch in #8.
