Saw the post on reddit. I saw "just opened" and "Range USA" and instantly made the connection, asked the guy if he's in Baton Rogue and he said yes.

You can't even use a holster or "instruct" another shooter according to the rules on the website. The main reason I go to a range now a days is to teach new shooters safe handling and that always includes using a holster safely.

Most ranges of this type at least allow you to get certified for rapid fire and holster use which I think is fair, but I don't even see that option on the website.

1st impression upon entering on opening day was "operating room sterile".... It is private property so they can set the rules... Probably the daily operations are heavily influenced and controlled by insurance policy constraints for their view of safety for employees as well as customers.. As well as a money making operation by controlling any instruction by store employees authorized to instruct for anyone shooting on the range. ...... This is a money making business with a mission to make a profit for the parent company and stockholders. ...................... drill sgt.

Sounds like they want you to shoot slow so you pay more for range fees. I get the potential unsafe rapid fire, but one shot per 5 seconds?

I didn't see anywhere on the range rules the definition of rapid fire. However, if it is one shot per 5 seconds that precludes even doing bullseye pistol timed or rapid fire. Timed fire is 10 rounds fired in two 5-shot strings -- 20 seconds each string. Rapid fire is 10 rounds fired in two 5-shot strings -- 10 seconds each string. Agonizingly slow to anyone who has done USPSA/IDPA or taken a self defense class. This and no drawing from a holster and $22/hr. I'll pass.
