We had a stray show up last November. She was skin and bones, had an orange hunting collar on her. We let her hang around, fed her, let her get healthy.
My cousin, who lives close by, said that she had saw her a few miles down the road with another similar looking dog, possibly a sibling. A day or so before she showed up, I saw the other dog dead in the road. I never knew they were together until a week or so after she was here.
So, her buddy got killed and then she showed up here.
She staid outside and on our enclosed back porch for a few months, we gave her a heater during the winter.
We definitely butted heads for a while. I had 2 other small dogs when she showed up (my pug has since passed). The little terrier is an ******* and doesn't get along well with a lot of other dogs (another rescue that had terrible owners). So, that was challenging because she wanted to play but he wanted to assert his dominance to a bigger dog. Had to pull her off him numerous times after he would **** her off.
I even had my wife post her on Facebook, to try to find the owner, or anyone willing to take her in. I really didn't want to take on the responsibility of another dog, a big dog at that. I never actively, really put effort into giving her away but I wasn't against the idea at all.
There were a few times when my patience was getting paper thin with her but I hung in there.
Around May, we finally decided to get her spayed and call her ours for good. She has been inside ever since and has settled in quite well. She's extremely well mannered, listens fairly well, (she's still young, less than 2 years I'd say for sure).
Her and the terrier still go at each other but it's always her playing and him being a dick, but they still have fun until he gets mad.
She definitely loves us and loves being here. We let our dogs roam around the property to visit the neighbors (all family), and she never goes far; if I call her, she comes running.

Now I'm glad that no one claimed or wanted her. The way I see it is, fate. I gave all opportunity for her to go another direction but in the end, she was destined to be here.

    Meet Emery

Beautiful dog, look at those eyes.

First pic is when she first showed up

Both adopted. Lucy the small black one is a Heinz 57, good little dog.
Thor, the Weimaraner we adopted from a rescue in Texas. He is about 2 yrs. Old. His original owner had cancer & couldn’t keep him anymore.

My 2 rescues, they were best friends for most of heir lives. Both are gone now, the each have a piece of my heart with them.

They got along great, played, ate, and slept together. I got them at different times, both were about 1-2 years when I got them. I got them about 6 months to a year apart.

They made a good team. Both look as happy as a clam.

They were a good team! Probably the two best dogs I ever owned, and me recently divorced at the time, living with them and my 2 older kids, once they moved out the 3 of us were a great team.

    Resues are the best!

Even when I eventually got “rescued” by my current wife!

Adopted from the pound almost 2 years ago. Kinda scrawny when I got him but he's filled out a lot. Not a big cat fan but he's Ok I guess.
    Made my wife happy.

I was never a cat person. Some years ago, my wife and daughter took in a cat. I mess with the cat more than they do. I know you like that cat when they ain't looking

some of these pets look like they might have rescued yall instead of them being rescued :mamoru:

no rescues here but proud owner of

    2- beagles
    1- bearded dragon
    22- laying hens

i dont know about yalls pups but it amazing how many hours a day my dogs sleep.. not to mention a full night of sleep... If they were in the wild they would never survive, not sleeping 10 hours a day
