Ok so I have a 10.5” .300bo SBR i built and I am setting up for my boys to hunt with supers suppressed, and looking for the best optics, anybody with 1st hand experience with any of these options… most shots will be sub 100yrds, kinda prefer the lpvo style because the eye box and eye relieve is usually a little more forgiving… I have heard good things about the strike eagle but heard the viper has much better glass and retical for hunting, I know there’s many more options but attempting to utilize gift cards so kinda limited on where and what I can get with them and trying to stay sub $650 ish

Pretty much narrowed all my choices down to these 5 looking at the following

    Vortex strike eagle 1-6
    Vortex strike eagle 1-8
    Vortex viper pst 1-6
    Trijicon accupoint 1-4
    Trijicon accupoint 3-9

They are all great options for the gun type, hunting situation, and hunter.

I would like to give you something else to consider. I am a big fan of the new compact prisms. They have great glass as they are fixed power. LPVO's are heavy with a mount. If you would like to trade some eye relief for some weight, consider the Vortex Spitfire Gen 2 prisms (not gen 1). They come in a 3x or 5x and very light weight. Again, you would be trading some eye relief for the weight savings. The eye box is very comparable at the 6x and 8x powers listed above.

Should have mentioned as of now I have it set up with a 3-9 accupoint, works great for me but looking for something with a little more forgiven eyebox/ eye relief like my 1-4 accupoints I have but with more zoom for a further shot for my boys

I had a Bushnell Elite Tactical 1x6.5 on my .300BO SBR that my daughter deer hunted with for a couple of years.
It was very easy for her to pick up and use.
I just put together an AR10 and moved the Bushnell to it. I picked a Vortex Spitfire 3X to put on my .300BO but I haven’t mounted it yet.

If you have a 1x4 Accupoint that you can shuffle around, 4X maybe sufficient for shots out to 100.

For a kid out to 100, the 1-6 strike eagle is all you need - spend the rest on ammo.

I'd go PST at a minimum if we started talking 200+, but the extra magnification of the 1-8 comes at a greater cost than the money - you change the eye box, you gather less light at the higher magnification, you introduce the possibility that a kid dials up to 8X and can't find the target.

Agreed, nothing worse than getting the elusive Livingston parish deer in for a shot and trying to be quiet and watching your kiddos move back and forth all over the scope trying to get a good eyebox/ sight picture all while there nerves and gitters are eating them up…

The accupoint 3-9 has a good eyebox and much better than most 3-9’s but nothing like a 1-4,1-6… and very easy with target practice but hunting is a diff animal as you all know, it all changes when that furry animal finally walks out lol

I have an older pst 1x4 . It has a very forgiving eye box and I generally run it at 3.5 or 4x .
It does have the exposed torrets and i have at a time or two bumped them. But it has held up against being thrown around and riding on 4 wheeler and used like a tool for 4 years.
It has the lit reticle circle . They call is the acss or something.
Now. I'm not a brand guy. I buy what works and listen to those who have been there before me.
This scope is the exception for me. I am not sure I'd buy more.
Rockslide forum has some reviews of swfa and others who seem to pass the box test better.
