Favorite pocket gun is S&W 649 in .357mag., although have carried a Makarov at times.

Currently trying to transition from a g27/43x to a g19mos.

As for caliber, it depends on the plateform. Id wouldnt be 100% against rim fire but it would have to be in a revolver in case a round is a dud.
I think one of the biggest issues with even considering rimfire for carry, is the ignition reliability. A lot of us have seen large game taken down with a well placed 22, but I can't recall any brand/line of .22lr ever being 100%.

No brand of any caliber has ever been proved 100% reliable that I'm aware of---although I'll agree rim fire
would be the most/more likely to misfire. I have several friends that carry small .22s or .22 mags. as secondary
    (back-up) CC firearms.

Yes caliber has a lot to do with it but probably shot placement has as much or more to do with the effectiveness of the caliber... Remember you could probably kill a elephant with a 22lr. .............. ................................................ drill sgt.

My smallest is a p238, small .380 but my normal edc is the common p365. 238 is good for gym shorts etc. I carry in a hybrid kydex/leather appendix from Crossbreed, otherwise it’s the p365 at 4 o’clock

G19 in the same place everyday. I am not a believer in switching guns and carry positions just for comfort or convivence. Find the gun and carry position that works for you and stick with it and practice with it.
This is why I'm trying to transition to a g19. Plus i hate shooting small guns.

I have a .22 mag that is pretty ferocious with the HPs. I wouldn’t feel to vulnerable carrying it. That said I have a .32 that is pretty handy. .380 /.38 is pretty capable too.

Smith & Wesson 317 8-round 22.LR weighing in at 10.8 oz. is ultra concealable in a belly band and completely controlable. Ruger LCR is noticeably bigger, heavier, but carries well OWB, has a better trigger than the Smith. Both are desirable carry weapons when "nothing is going to happen", according to Bill Jordan. Something goes down, and it will, shot placement is on you.

Ruger LCP .380. I carry this and a Shiedl 9mm. Ruger if in a hurry and just going to the store. Any gun is better than no gun. Winter can carry my Colt Defender in .45 under a vest. Love the Defender.
