Just got one a few days ago. Still waiting on rings and rail to arrive. Looks good and feels nice in the hands. Trigger seems pretty good as is, but I have not tried to adjust it yet. I have read that I should be able to get it a bit lighter. I went with the steel barrel, as I was advised it balances better. I'll be glad to report back in a few weeks on how it shoots. The 40 moa rail is scheduled to ship 05/15.

I would think the steel barrel would be more consistent too. The weight savings for that type of rifle isn't worth it in my opinion.

I have handled one at Sportsmans Warehouse in Slidell but this was some time ago. Never seen on in stock anywhere else. Seems solidly built but I went with the CZ 457. If you get one please let us know how you like it.

If you get one, the base I ended up ordering today is a 34MOA base from https://l3idesignsolutions.com. I canceled the other as it got pushed back. They also make a 14 round mag that looks interesting. I'll buy a couple of those to try when they get back in stock.

the begara was made to compete with the vudoo for full size trainer rifles (scale and mag size) with great accuracy its a good higher tier competitor in .22 PRS/NRL 22 matches

it was made to be compatible with the R700 footprint, so you can make it "feel" and look how you want. tons of options, there is a Steel and a carbon fiber version, tho the CF version i would look at if you plan to use this as a walking through the woods hunting gun to save a few pounds, however if you plan to do PRS style shooting the steel barrel helps counterbalance the stock (still a little butt heavy) but again - aftermarket stocks if you are looking at a fully balanced rig.

Breaking the $1k barrier it can be a bit much for some shooters, but it is def in the relm of "buy once, cry once" until you are serious enough/ready for a vudoo in terms of price, tho i will say there are some deminishing returns to be seen on a $3k+ rig for what ive squeezed out of the vudoo over the begara.

Mags were hard to find for a bit, tho there are some "at home" conversions to work with vudoo mags (need drimil) and there is also L3i? they make custom mags for vudoo/begara/soon CZ. but it is the full size ACIS pattern which is also nice for young hands and keeps fumbling to a minimal.

not sure what your overall planned use for one, pinking/hunting/matches
be sure to have a good scope which is a different rant and for another time.

but if i was starting over and buying everything over again give begara, CZ 457 (some models) and vudoo considerations.
I am the assistant match director @ Palo Alto for the .22lr PRS practices/matches if you have any other questions or want to reach out for knowledge just hit me up.

I love my b14r. I bought a steel barreled action and it’s currently sitting in a MDT ACC chassis.

Steel barrel is the way to go for balance. The stock steel barrel profile is already hard to balance and carbon is impossible. Compatible with r700 triggers and I have a trigger tech diamond in my and it’s fantastic.

I was not a fan of l3i 14rd mags as I had a hard time adjusting them to feed reliably. Their mag extensions however have been perfect.

With the right ammo these things are shooters. My only mild complaint is the bolt close is a lil rough due to the ramp design. It smooths out a bit with use. But it’s a huge price jump to go to vudoo or rimx.

Got out of a voodoo and into a b14r carbon, and then into a steel version. The steel balances better IMO. It shoots well, but has to find ammo it agrees with, like any rimfire. Is it a Voodoo? Not likely....but it doesn't have the same price tag either.
