I'm not expecting it to be just "OK, IT'S MARTIAL LAW, B*THCES!" but a gradual increase in social unrest... possible racial tensions... tensions between ideological opponents... honestly, these "occupy" people may seem...

BINGO! networking is key! not just internet networking, but also getting to know your neighbors and discussing plans like that. I'd much rather stay put, but I want to feel comfortable where I'm at knowing that I have a support network if I need it, or if others need me.

If it were up to me, I'd be living out on my family's land in the middle of nowhere Alabama, but the wife won't have it. (plus there's not too...

I was worried about giving off that impression. I hope no one suspects me of that. just for the record, I'm not asking for all kinds of personal info. I just want to establish a few relationships with local folks who share my preparedness lifestyle.

jeez, so many things I want to respond to! so I just picked the last one. I've got the go-bag thing down, jimdana. IMO that's the bare minimum, last ditch effort of survival. Nomad: I wish I had money for a HAM setup, but right now I just have a little 12V Cobra CB, and a set of walkies...

while there are a number of possible scenarios that worry me and motivate me to prepare, but I don't waste my time on things that are obviously BS. I don't prepare for "comet elenin" LOL! It's a lifestyle of sorts, so it certainly does consume a decent bit of my free time. Like I said before...
