Thinking about raising a 3 some of hens

I apologize for the late reply, FIL had surgery yesterday and is in ICU It’s been in the barn for 4-5 years now, as I had one built 4 feet long to replace this on (2 feet long) It is built so the bottom can be unbolted and turned around so the eggs roll to the front instead of the rear (like...

Thinking about raising a 3 some of hens

I’ll try to remember to get some tomorrow when I get up as I’m working nights this weekend.

Thinking about raising a 3 some of hens

If you have children, get a docile breed and handle them a good bit when young. Raise them in their coop for a few months before letting them out. Same with when they start laying, keep them closed up and get them used to laying in the coop. I open the door in the morning, and go close it...

      Brotherhood Of The Traveling 1858

Not a reproduction, but a real Remington New Model Army that has travelled the world. Union issued, Confederate captured, and came home from the war with my 3rd great grandfather. Before I got it, a cousin who was career military had it and took it around the world with him. His daughter, who...

      A Message From Jerry Clower.

Thank you for posting that. Knew Mr Jerry and Mrs Homerline (his wife). I see Katy (his daughter mentioned) a good bit, but haven’t seen daughters Amy and Sue in years. His son Ray passed about 15 years ago. Mr Jerry and his brother Sonny both served in the Navy in WW2, Jerry was on the...

      US Military Bases.

Dad was at Coffey Barracks, along with a few others in Germany. Most people don’t know about Army Camp Merrill, in Dahlonega, GA. As said above, Ft Mac is gone, probably because of the water, along with Sherman, and I will always call them Bragg, Benning & Polk.

4 national parks in 4 days (pics included)

Sounds like it was a great trip. I’ve been to Mammoth and also Diamond Caverns (just a few miles away) and Red River Gorge below Winchester, KY, but New River has made the “to do” list in the last few months.

Best caliber and rifle for a youth hunter

Where in LA are you at? If around the BR area (I live across the line in MS, but work near BR) I have a .243 youth 700 y’all can handle and shoot to see if something like that would work. Best friend I believe still has a 7-08 compact that he’d let y’all handle/shoot. Got a few 30-30s and...

      WW2 Items for School Presentation

Dad’s father was with Patton, Mom’s father was with Rommel. They met/married when dad was stationed in Germany in 61-64. Got a cousin who was a B-24 pilot, 415th BS of the 98th BG. On March 1, 1943, “Thunder Bird” (B24 41-23789) was shot down after bombing the harbor at Naples, Italy. Crew is...

      Number of hunters by state

Don’t remember LA law, as I moved back to MS when I got out the Army many years ago, but know of several here in MS that don’t buy license, as they own the land they hunt. My wife and I are both on the deeds of our properties, so we both are allowed to hunt them without buying licenses. My...

Biden Army charges Afghan Vet for equipment left behind

What did he do for annual inspection for the last 2 years, where everything had to be accounted for? Or has that much changed since I got out 30 plus years ago?

      ButcherBox Promo (click for details)

I bought a side this year from a local farmer and was all in for $4.10lb, hopefully it will still be less if I raise them, but I need to get my new fences up. Overall it is much cheaper than buying daily/weekly, plus you know what you are getting. Can’t beat the taste of fresh beef

      Daughter's First Deer

Congratulations. I’d rather see a young’un kill at deer or catch a fish now than do it myself. Warms my heart to see this
