I used to have a dog that loved to run rabbit in a field. I'd use a single shot 16ga. A Stevens. Still have it, tho it's looser than goose snot now. Can't imagine why.

There was a field load of mixed #4 and #6 made by Federal that worked great.

    Kennah!
I just watched the movie on Sunday. My wife says I am now less intelligent since viewing it.
But I know to........ " Consult the book of armaments " before use
She is correct. Cannot remember the last time I saw it but I know I’ve seen it at least twenty times in my life.

    I only have a 12 gauge.
    Recently equipped to handload shotshells.
My intent is to load all steel in light, fast loads, and larger-than-traditional shot.
#4 steel for squirrels, #2 steel for rabbit.
Spreader wad in a 12 gauge should help. I used to make them myself out of card stock. The center partition part is what I made.

    Now you can buy them:

You could probably modify an existing wad also if you were comfortable doing so.

    .22CB Long Suppressed.

CCI makes a segmenting hollow point that is subsonic.
Ive got some of those segmented subsonics, work wonders on a raccoon too, although i think 3 shots center mass of just about any 22lr will take care of things
