Spent the day at Cutoff Range Yesterday. I don't shoot public ranges often so when I do it is a little stressful for me as I'm an introvert.
Guy behind the counter was professional, polite and patient.
Overall a great facility and great staff, nothing negative to say. Clean and neat, well kept. Fans on the line to help with the heat.
Extremely helpful with every question, request or issue I had. It was hard to see the 300 yrd tagets because the grass was so tall due to being too wet to cut, no problem, told me I could move a taller target from the 400 line up to the 300 line, problem solved. Wanted to shoot at 50 but no targets at 50, same as before, grab one from the 200 and move it up. I couldn't tell if I was connecting at 400 sound wise (deaf in one ear and tons of ringing in the other) Mr. Aaron had no problem watching/listening for me for a few rounds to confirm. He also made a few other suggestions during the day that helped my time there go much smoother. I can't comment on anything further out than 500 as I didn't attempt to shoot anything that far out. Few other guys were using the longer range targets and seemed to not have any complaints.
They allow use of their golf cart on the range which considering the range length is awesome.
I'm 2 hrs away from them and it was well worth the drive time.
    Highly recommended.

Good report and great news. Transplanted Louisianian living in Virginia. Hoping to use range when visiting family in WBR parish.

Thanks so much for the review. We are still in our first year of operation since I bought it and the learning curve has been steep for me.

The grass has just been outrageous this year with all the rain we have had. During the summer months the area from the road to 25 yards down range gets cut weekly with a zero turn. Everything down range from there gets cut every two weeks with a bush hog on its lowest setting. Even at two weeks it starts getting a bit high but if they have to delay the cut a few days it gets really wild. We are spitballing some long term solutions and trying to get a handle on it. It’s about 25 acres that we keep cut so it’s an expensive and time consuming process but I try to keep it looking like a driving range when the weather cooperates.

Glad to hear the staff treated you well. I haven’t been out there in a few weeks due to shoulder surgery but I’ve got some great guys working for me. Some have more knowledge and experience than others but they are all friendly and helpful. Even if there’s a safety issue our goal is to address it quickly, politely, and discretely. We want to educate and inform and have people leave with more knowledge than they came with.

We’ve been playing with target heights as we have steel every 100 yards from 200 to 800. Having them all the same height creates issues with both visibility and depth perception when their are 30+ targets out there. Right now our 200 and 300 yard targets are on 2’ sticks, our 400 and 500 yard targets are in 3’ sticks and our 600-800 yard targets are on 5’ sticks. We have yardage markers that we need to finish installing on each side of the range in three rotating colors (white, yellow, and orange). Targets will be painted the color of their corresponding markers which should also help with depth perception and distance recognition. Right now we are painting everything white (in part because paint is so damn hard to get).

Please don’t forget our gun shop when you are looking for a new weapon, accessory or ammo. We have an outstanding inventory, great prices, and offer 0% financing with approved credit.

Our gun rental side is growing by leaps and bounds on both the machine gun and semi auto side. We are getting ready to start suppressor rentals out there so you can try different suppressors before you buy.

We appreciate all our members and occasional guests for their support and patience as we grow this into one of the best ranges in the southeast US. We have a lot of plans and a long way to go but this place is for you guys. Go out, use it, enjoy it, and tell your friends.

100% understandable about the grass being high. I didn't mean it as a complaint, just wanted to point out how helpful the staff was in dealing with us not able to see those targets.
Me being socially awkward/introverted makes it difficult to feel comfortable around strangers but the staff so accommodating and helpful I had no problem being perfectly comfortable talking to them.
I didn't spend much time in the lobby as I was anxious to get shooting since I had quite a few things to accomplish but in hindsight I should have browsed/hung out inside more.
Thanks for chiming in and offering a great facility.

Absolutely didn’t take it as a complaint. I always appreciate the feedback and am glad Aaron was accommodating.

Yeah next time you go talk to the guys in the shop and check out the machine guns and other rentals in the shop. We have a ton of Glock rental guns (some with optics) and we just added a .44Mag short barreled lever gun as a rental. I’m going to be bring a 12.5” carbon fiber barreled suppressed 6.5CM bolt gun to rent on our precision rifle side along with an integrally suppressed, short barreled M&P15-22. I’m thinking of also doing a rental suppressed .300BLK SBR with a thermal on it so people can get a taste of the thermal experience.

Made a second trip today, with a couple buddies this time. Spent more time inside the shop and on the pistol range. Also got to meet Kenny, the owner. LOTS of cool stuff on the rental wall. As per the first visit everything was great. The guy inside the shop was extremely helpful, informative and eager to share info without being pushy or having a know it all attitude in any way. Aaron was ROing on the line again and again was very accommodating and helpful. Only complaint is the time went by too fast!
All good stuff people, go check them out.

Didn’t realize that the range was purchased by Meplat but glad to hear it. That range has a TON of untapped potential and I’ve only heard good things about Meplat. Looking forward to getting back out there soon.

Been putting off taking "Big Bertha" down there, but a Thompson might intice me.
Can't relate her pedigree, with the bot watching.

its a fantastic range, Its an hour away from where I live but well worth the drive. I bought a membership for me and my 13 year old son early November. Everytime I go, I meet someone who I learn something from, even "basic" (lol) stuff. Its top tier in every way, the staff is awesome to say the least. I honestly cant say enough good **** about this range
