Being this is the same subject I was interested in, I thought I would pose this question. I went to a gun show (I know, they are there to sell) and was told by one of the exhibitors that the Shield bodyguard .380 had been issued to the Louisiana State Police as a backup gun and were shortly all taken out of service because of dependability. (He indicated after 200 rounds). He went on to say that these had been replaced with a Glock. He was wearing a Glock hat at the time, had one on his hip, and said that he was a retired trooper. I am looking for something that is very light, not hard to rack, and not out of the box expensive. Shield bodyguard, Ruger LCP. Anyone familiar with this claim?
    Thanks !!

So last year I was hospitalized for a couple months and had no insurance so I sold every gun I owned except for one J-Frame. Now I’m getting back on my feet and I’m looking at getting a new carry gun, I’ve always carried a G-19 or a M&P 2.0 but question running right back to the same old thing. I’m really looking at the sig 365XL or possibly a CZ P-07 as my new carry gun. What else should I add to my shopping list?? (Oh must be 9mm)

    Thanks
Have you looked at the sig m18? it has a little bit longer overall length but its s sweet shooter, and not very expensive

it depends, if size matters, or if you are specifically looking at 380. I have heard good about the Bersa 380, I have experience shooting a Walther PK380, and of course the EZ series from Smith & Wesson, in both 9 & 380.

The Walther is similar in size to a Glock 43, to a 43X. It holds 8+1 of 380. It designed for weaker individuals. Super easy to rack, soft shooter, etc.

If you need the smaller size, there are a couple LCP’s on here now. That’s a 380. If you go to a 9mm, the Kahr is accurate, and is a 6 +1, they can easily do a 7 or 8 round mag as well. A couple of those on here also.

You can get all of these for about $200-$300, except the Smith and Wesson EZ series, those will be $400-$500 most likely.

Man that's rough. I know how it is. Glad you're on the other side of it!

Thanks I will also check the 43x out, I kinda wrote it off because of people telling me to run aftermarket mags and mag release…..
Don’t run those S15 mags. If you get the 43X and have to have them, don’t swap out the mag catch, buy an extra stock one.

Best for reliability stay away from the S15 mags for carry. They can be great, they can suck, they are aftermarket mags made by checkmate, sold by Shiel Arms. Checkmate mags made the Beretta 92’s unreliable also.

Mecgar shoul be the only after market mag you get. My 2 cents.

I had the 43X, loved it, but moved on as it didn’t conceal as well as other pistols I like also. I did run the S15 mags, loved them initially, then started having issues down the road. Some guys swear by them.

Just a little update: Health and financially I’m totally back on track.

The M&P 2.0 compact along with the J-frame have been a great combination of what I need. For only having 2 guns in my EDC rotation I feels it covers everything I need.

Thanks for all the well wishes and suggestions on guns, it’s much appreciated!
