As far as pocket guns go, it's probably the best product on the market.

I know "best" is dumb and subjective and doesn't factor in a lot of things about personal preference. But... it's a pretty small market with maybe half a dozen viable options, and the Max is the leader of the pack considering capacity.

What are your thoughts on the Ruger LCP Max (380) for a good conceal carry pocket pistol? Thanks.
I hate small frame .380s because they suck to shoot and most people won't train with them much because of it. And the LCP is no exception. I doubt much has changed other than capacity from the 2 LCPs I had. Very snappy because it weighs next to nothing. Sight radius is as laughable as you'd expect with such a small gun. Shooting decent defensive loads is a literal pain. Unless you spend a ton of time behind it, maximum useful distance is maybe 7-10 yards from my experience. I had 500 painful, and frankly demoralizing, rounds through my last one and couldn't get follow up shots or groups i was happy with. That was largely due to the little grips shifting around in my hand after each shot. Maybe the Max fares better in this regard due to a larger mag but I wouldn't hold my breath

Just bought one and have yet to shoot it. The trigger and sights are better than the old LCP that I used to have for pocket carry. I remember the old LCP not being particularly nice to shoot, but not really that horrible.

The max has a way better trigger than its two predecessors and the gun does what it was designed to do as a close up defensive weapon only in my opinion. Comfortable to carry wearing shorts and a t shirt in our warm environment. I’ve put at least 500 rds through mine and haven’t had any issues and I bought it from a member here who shoots constantly.

Off topic but I've retired my LCP 2. The idea of having to used it from my pocket always bothered me. It sucked to shoot and practice with. I switched to AIWB and it was a game changer.

If pocket carry is the ONLY way you'd carry, go for it. Sometimes it takes trying different things to see what we DON'T like. Good luck.

Max is far superior to the previous LCP iterations. The sights alone entire that, let alone mag capacity. With that said, they are finicky with ammo selection, and of the four I've been around, none have been 100% reliable. I'd personally rather pocket carry a Jframe, but that's why we have options.

Thanks. What is a J frame?
