I put some chicken thighs to marinate yesterday for Shawarma today.

I cooked the chicken on the Keg about noon today and after cooling into the fridge it went. After getting home from mass this afternoon I cooked the rice pilaf, threw the salad together and made the humus platter then sliced the chicken and heated it on the griddle outside.

I made a garlic sauce, Toum, but it didn't come out like it's supposed to.
Still this was a great meat everyone thoroughly enjoys.

Man as I was reading through this all I could think about was, I hope he killer tzatziki sauce recipe that goes with it.
Very nice departure from the typical south Louisiana fair.

Yeah, I considered making some tzatziki sauce or even buying it already made from Costco the other day. But, because I make a sauce usually to go with everything I cook we end up with a fridge full of a bunch of sauces that end up going bad. I decided to just have the Toum sauce but it didn't come out right yesterday. It tasted good but it was thin and watery like. And usually everyone here loves the garlic sauce.

Yes, I remember Mona’s from when I lived in Mid City. That used to be a gas station where they are. Still on the corner of Banks and S. Scott right?
