    You still got it, Mag?
    Sorry I never updated.
Finally was put in touch with the owner in Lake Charles Thursday morning. He asked a few questions about the bird’s condition and whether I thought it appeared injured in any way. After deciding the bird to be fit, we struck a deal whereby he agreed to contact us upon the bird’s return and then asked me to just allow the bird to free roam in my yard and that it would probably decide when to fly home. So, I let my daughter take it out and hand feed it once more, which entailed the bird picking all the milo from a cup full of scratch grains that I throw out for my chickens. After about an hour the bird flew to the roof of my shop and sat there for a bit and as soon as we looked away it was gone. I got a call Sunday evening and learned the bird turned up at home. The kids were all smiles. The guy told me not to be surprised if “Josie” made future pit stops here for a snack and I assured him we would gladly oblige.
Kinda cool experience for the family and another chance to show my kids how to do the right thing.
