I guess I should update... We returned them back to the shelter a few weeks ago to get neutered and put up for adoption.

Im happy to say that they were only up for adoption for a few days and all 3 got adopted together by the same family.

I will admit it was hard to take them back, my wife was a wreck. The house has felt very empty since they have been gone.

We do plan on fostering again but it's hurricane season and want to wait till after it's over with.
Congrats on a successful foster and their adoption! As a fellow foster I know exactly what your wife is going through. Tell her it gets a tad easier the more times you do it. But good call on not doing it during hurricane season. Once you trauma bond with an animal there is no letting them go. My beagle and the three kittens (now fat and happy house cats) I was fostering when Ida hit are a testament to that

dang, I was gonna call you to borrow them for a day, so my kids could see what it’s like to have a pet and the responsibility involved!

Man they are kittens. No matter what problems/responsibility they will have, your kids will still want them. I took them to my sister's house and all her kids fell in love with them within minutes.

If you want them to not want a cat. Then find an older one that takes no **** from anyone. Lol..
"oh you think I'm cute? You wanna pet me huh? How about a few skibbity paps on top of your head... Is that cute? Still wanna pet me?"

I won't lie and say it was easy for me to give them back and then see the shelter employee put them in the viewing cages. I felt a big knot in my throat and I had to walk right out. If my wife had been with me we would have been walking back out with three kittens and that's why I didn't bring her.
