The receiver is STEEL, sort of a MIM type of stuff, which was plated with iron, then caustic blued. When the plating wears off its nearly impossible to reblue, tho Brownells claims one of their caustic compounds under specific conditions words pretty well. My advice is to use one of the paint...
That's what is known as a "hardware store" brand name, imported from Belgium in case lots back in the day. It doesn't cross reference to anything in my library. You will spend a ton of money and wind up with a gun that is worthless due to its history and the damascus barrels. My advice is to...
If you're having to use a rod to dislodge a case for whatever reason and worried about the rifling, wrap the rod every few inches with electrical tape. Eliminates possible contact. Also never use wood dowels whatever the situation, if it breaks you're in deep doo-doo. GW
Re: engineers. What's the difference between an engineer and a pig? You can argue with a pig.
As far as some of these educated idjits out there. A neurosurgeon had his plumbing stop up on Christmas eve an hour before the big party his wife was putting on. After a bunch of frantic phone calls...
Sling swivels on a double should ordinarily be soldered in place, a tricky job considering that the rib is soldered also. I would suggest you try Big Jake Welch. GW
Used to work--long time ago--for an old sheriff in Texas. He had 2 main rules:
1. Treat a man like a man.
2. If the shxx starts, you win.
Spent 15 yrs working in this state. Was the best and most useful advice I've ever gotten. Follow #1, you seldom need #2. GW
I checked Numrich for you, no listing. You could call them. That one sounds like an import under a trade name. You might try an inquiry over on shotgun world, lot of knowledgeable folk over there. GW
The recipient can and should start their own database. As far as "transfer of ownership", there is no registration of firearms in this state showing that you "owned" the firearms in question. GW
You are blessed, my friend. Went down that road a few years back, a three year episode, lost most of my right ear, radiation (screwed up my beard), and chemo. Too much interferon left me with severe neuropathy in legs. Can't walk worth a chit, but I don't quit, I still hunt, target shoot, and...
Here's one that actually works: Pick up some Nullo at any drug store. This is a chlorophyll product used by ostomate patients, keeps the poop from stinking. Really! Take it till yours doesn't stink, you're halfway there. As others said, clean clothes washed in no scent soap, bathe with same...
No need to scrap 'em. If they aren't good in the current gun, pull the loads, all the components can be salvaged. As they are lead bullets you'll probably have to use an impact puller. GW
For those limited to back yard or other urban settings, make a frame of 2x4's and hang a piece of short nap carpet by the upper corners. The carpet will absorb the impact and save your arrows. Arrows will not penetrate. GW
There is a temporary ban on the 15/22 at appleseed shoots. Problems with the trigger pin and sear pin working loose and causing AD's, even with the safety on. GW
Read a story a while back about a "salvage" type of guy who spotted what appeared to be a new vacuum cleaner sitting by the curb. Picked it up, took it home, cleaned out the bag which was packed solid, worked fine. Felt bad about the situation, took it back where he got it and told the people...
