I tested 2 of the main contenders for Low Recoil Tactical buckshot today.
First we have the Hornady TAP - Load # 8626
Next was the Federal Tactical - Load # LE132 00
Both have the exact same shotcup. Federal calls it the Flitecontrol wad. I was very impressed in the shotcups ability...
If that is the mil spec winchester 00 buckshot I read from several sources that it didn't pattern well at all.
ammunitiontogo.com is where I ordered my Hornady buckshot from. I will be headed out to precision in a little while to pattern the Hornady vs. the Federal Tactical.
I work at Agco Auto on the corner of Coursey and Sherwood Common and will be there from 7 am to 5:30 pm and will get home around 6:45 or so tommorow night. PM me when you want to meet.
I just got my order of 50 rounds of the Hornady TAP 00 buckshot. I took one apart just to see what its made of and low and behold it has a shotcup that is extremely similar to the Federal Flitecontrol cup. I should be able to pattern these in my gun this weekend and will post the pics when finished.
I don't think they would have a problem with you picking up brass. They don't even make you clean up after yourself, but I do it anyways. They just sweep up all the brass and put in a trash can.
I order 2 boxes of hornady TAP 00 buckshot. From what I can find on the web, the hornady has a very similar shot cup to the federal and patterns really close to the same. When it comes in I will pattern it in my 18" cylinder bore 870 and will post the results.
I am seriously considering the Hornaday TAP shells. They seem to pattern pretty close to the federals and seem to be easier to find.

It seems that the federal power-shok low recoil 00 buck shot is the same as the "tactical" load that is only available to LEOs. The federal load # is H13200. The only place that I stopped today that had this round is Jim's, but the were 7$ a box for 5 and I just thought that was a little high.
Baton Rouge Police Supplies no longer carries any shotgun ammo. They referred me to Acadamey and they don't carry the tactical. Anybody know of anywhere else in town that might have it in stock?
