Favorite handgun to shoot and why?

I’ve got a Clark Custom Series 70 Colt M1911 Hardball gun in .45 ACP that remains my very favorite, though I rarely shoot it these days. Extremely accurate and reliable.

      Some Surpluss pew-pew 22

Shot a bunch of it on an Army Reserve pistol team in the early 80s. Most was Winchester white box labeled standard velocity match. Some was Remington target in the old blue and green boxes. It was reliable and more accurate than I was.

      Any bourbon drinkers here

Evan Williams Single Barrel is pretty good at a very reasonable price. Evan Williams black for everyday on the rocks, but I enjoy Makers, Wild Turkey 101 or Longbranch, and the occasional taste of Blantons.

      Homemade pistol shot shells anyone?

I’ve used a variety of commercial shot cartridges in .22 and .38/.357. I’ve also loaded .38s using the Speer shot capsules. I’ve also loaded some light ones in .38 by using a sharpened case to cut wads out of a styrofoam cup for over powder and over shot (several for over powder) and a light...

      collet crimping die

Lee makes them as do perhaps others. In the Lee dies they have four segments that surround the case mouth and are then squeezed into the case mouth sides by the die body to crimp the bullet into the case. It can improve neck tension particularly if you are having problems with bullet setback.

      The average CCW issue time?

That's good to know. My packet is being held for the same reason. Was told that the software update was due any day now but they didn't mention processing immediately with the full fee. That's what I submitted with my packet since I didn't know about the discount. Got to love bureaucracy and...

      Military Discount

Not knowing about the change, I submitted a renewal packet about ten weeks ago. Contacted them last week thinking my packet got lost and was told they at holding all "military" packets waiting on the contractor to change their software to allow for the discount. It's supposed to be fixed any...

      Need some ideas for grandson.

+1 on the Army National Guard's Youth Challenge Program. It's targetted a "not bad kids" who need some direction and focus. At least in Louisiana, each of the 3 sites is headed by a professional educator and they have a really excellent track record on getting kids through their GED. There's...
