      Anyone taken an Alaskan cruise?

Two trips to Alaska: Cruise with wife was nice. Last of season, I think end of Sept and we were in gale for a couple days ~ even crew was sick. But the ports were enjoyable. A bit rainy, but like a "real" winter day in La. On board was enjoyable, but I didn't care for the cramped time schedule...

      Metairie Residents Concerned.

Senator Blake Miguez authored SB1 Constitutional Carry. He is now filing a Pre-emption Bill that even goes back and removes the "grandfathering" in previous statute. It will remove ALL laws, ordinances, etc not in compliance with state law ... and taxes, permits, etc, if I am not mistaken. I...

      Metairie Residents Concerned.

New Orleans Senator tried an amendment to give New Orleans TWO YEARS to implement the rules for Constitutional Carry because they are "unique and unlike any other city in Louisiana ... or the world", he said. Apparently they are "so special" they can't read and apply the law as easily and...

      Palmetto State experience

I've purchased a few from them. It typically took a week to process, but then shipping was done in 3 days from SC to LA. Had a minor fitting issue on a Dagger, but got it cleaned up and worked out quickly.

Where does your political compass land you?

      I wasn't surprised. Interesting.

Louisiana now solidly RED - how long before Constitutional Carry?

SouthernUnderGod ... Great response. Btw, do you know if Sheriff Sid Gautreaux actually made that statement or held that belief ~ or did someone attribute it to him incorrectly. I really don't know, but would like to for HIS next election. In reality, his deputies "don't know who has a weapon"...

What weapon do you own with the most uncommon caliber?

30-30 ... on a single shot Thompson/Center ... at dusk it shoots a flame like a tank in the old comic books. .30 Luger ~~ fun to shoot and brass flies ALL OVER the place .25-35 Win Mod 94 circa 1906 ~~ my dad's gun, got a pic of him on Jefferson St (or Main St?) in Lafayette back in early...

      How would you handle this?

I was carrying a .22lr semi-auto, but wasn't sure if that would make things worse. Can't recall the ears ~ startled the heck out of me! Stalking likely. I had been "squealing" to imitate a crippled rabbit. It irritates the hell out of fox squirrels and they come out and bark like crazy. I'm...

      How would you handle this?

I had a Bobcat stalk me once while squirrel hunting in Natchez. Sure got MY attention! As they say: "The hunt is all fun and games, until the Rabbit shows up with a shotgun!"

So Now I Own Two Glocks

Consider a Leupold DeltaPoint Micro ... it fits in the rear sight dovetail. The window is small, but it keeps it low profile. I just added one to my G19 and I saw improvement with dry fire on Mantis scores, but haven't been to range with it yet.

Best custom holsters around Baton Rouge

SCK was my first holster on an EDC Glock 19 a few years ago. I've purchased a few other brands to "see what I was missing" ... wasn't missing anything. Great wear, fit, and comfort. Recently purchased another SCK for the G19 when I added a light. Once again, good fit and comfort ~~ still...

Constitutional Carry, passed the House of Representatives by a veto proof majority

Without a CCW, you DO have one "LEGAL solution" ... You can lock the gun, unloaded, in the trunk or in a rack each time before entering the GFZ. (Yeah, like that is going to happen!)

Constitutional Carry, passed the House of Representatives by a veto proof majority

You are NOT exempt "driving through" the School Gun Free Zone according to Tom Grieve, a lawyer recognized as an expert in 2A law. Don't shoot the messenger, but here are two YouTube clips explaining this: the first is his longer explanation on his own channel, and the second is one he did for...

Constitutional Carry, passed the House of Representatives by a veto proof majority

Reciprocity applies to states recognizing other states' PERMITS only, that is, having a recognized reciprocal permit provides the same guidelines. In some states permit allows carry in more places or some other greater latitudes of operation. It should also be noted that the FEDERAL School...

      K&E Slide Rule

We used a circular slide-rule called an E6B in the cockpit of light aircraft for fuel, time/distance, weight-and-balance calculations and other flight operations. That was before handheld calculators became specialized, and of course now it's all done from iPads and such ~ just drop in numbers...

      K&E Slide Rule

"Nightmare abacus-like, non-electric device of the 1960's...." That made the calculations that sent men to the MOON! It was a pretty nifty device but it required KNOWING your multiplying and division cold.

CHP no longer required for veterans on August 1st

A veteran would still have to show an "Honorable Discharge" ... and that would NOT apply to a dependent. I am a DH (to a Navy wife, Captain) and this would not apply to me since I was not active duty with a discharge ... except when my WIFE says "you may leave now" .. grin

CHP no longer required for veterans on August 1st

The CHP is a definite advantage for at least two reasons: reciprocity to carry in about 36 other states; acts in lieu of a NICS check for many gun stores (I believe).

      SB287?

The "Louisiana Shooting Association" is opposed to this bill: https://louisianashooting.com/2022-louisiana-bills-update/ SB287 by Rep. Louie Bernard (R, Natchitoches) is pending in the Senate Judiciary C Committee. This bill provides for lifetime concealed handgun permits and reduces the permit...

      SB287?

I believe that some states do not offer reciprocity to carriers with "lifetime" CCW, and may even discontinue ALL reciprocity with that state. Constitutional or a Lifetime CCW might be good choice for some, but it could limit options for others.
