This is a pre-AWB AK47 made by Norinco in China. I purchased this used but I could tell by the condition it had not been fired much at all. I purchased it with the original thumbhole stock but then converted it to what you see here. To remain 922r compliant I changed the factory gas piston to a hardened stainless gas piston from ak-builder and replaced the disconnector with one from Arsenal. I only changed the disconnector because the factory trigger on these MAK-90 rifles are so good I didn't want to lose that by putting in a Tapco or something similar. The furniture is the Type 56 style made by Ironwood Designs. I chose the birch wood with the smooth fat grip (like a Type 56) and standard buttplate cut on the stock. I also had them put the sling swivel cut on the bottom like it should be. These furniture sets come raw so I spent hours sanding and preparing the wood before making a custom dye process to achieve this color. After the right color was set I added several coats of Varathane Diamond polyurethane, wet sanding between each coat. The final coat was left semi-gloss.
