Looking for something new...

I have been debating back and forth on what I want. A little backround, I used to be big into hunting and all-around rifle shooting...the futher the distance, the better. I am looking for a quality setup around the $2000 area that is equally impressive in a deer stand as it is on a bench looking down-range. I've looked at a lot of the Remington 700, Savage and Tikka variations. I have been away from guns for many years but I am competent. So let's hear some ideas...it will not be long until I am ready to order. Thanks in advancce.

I would get a new Savage 10FP in a McMillan stock with a detachable mag. I'm not sure who has any in stock though. I also like the Bushnell 6-24x50. Donnie at www.Bigrivertactical.com has the best price on those.

i am a big fan of the mcmillan stocks on the remington 700 although i have not seen any on a savage. i will certainly look into that as well as the scope you recommended. do all mcmillan stocks come directly from mcmillan or are there 3rd party sellers?

They have 3rd party sellers. The best deal is to get one from say Savage already on a rifle. I don't know if Remington sells rifles with McMillan stocks.
The stocks on the Savage site appears to be an A3 which is what I have on my Savage, the one on gunbroker appears to be an A4

I'm pro Savage by the way. Here is my Savage in an A3 McMillan that came from Savage with a 10FP that I bought off someone who took it off his rifle. Also it is wearing the Bushnell I got from Donnie.
