1911 checkering

Who in the Baton Rouge area can checker an aluminum colt commander front strap? I've been to Jim's and Hebert's guns. I would really prefer someone who does not send it out.

Checkering is not an easy thing to do correctly. It takes years of practice to get it right and it is very hard on the arms. Clarks Custom Guns in Princeton, La. can do by machine. They do a good job but it will take a couple of weeks to get it back. Try this site "clarkcustomguns.com". They are good people and easy to work with.

Not local, but (EGW) Evolution Gun Works checkers every six weeks or so. They do beautiful work (I have one of their Custom 9x23 pistols with 25 lines per inch) and the price is reasonable. They are a full custom shop and make tools for the gunsmiths out there, too.
