Any body know if there is such a caliber as 25-20. I saw a pistol saturday that had an 18 in octagon barrel and had Winchester repeating arms on it. It had what seemed to be a rolling block single shot receiver. The numbers 25-20 were where the barrel met the receiver. Anybody know anything about this pistol. Thanks wrecker

I think you may have hit the nail on the head. It looked like a lever but the lever was more like a a newer style gun. If I can I will see if I can get a pic. Bubbatized sounds about right!!!!!!

there are two cartridges called 25-20,
    25-20wcf and 25-20single shot

SInce the gun you saw may have been a Winchester Low Wall, it is more than likely a 25-20wcf,, however that was more popular in lever action rifles. A lot of singe shots were chambered in 25-20 Single Shot for Schutzen matches which were popular around the turn of the century.

If the barrell is not marked either way, get a chamber cast.

I need to get a better look at it and take a few pics. Seems to me it may have been bubbatized. It has an octagon barrel and the lever makes the block drop for a single shot.
