I have about 20 ar mags that are still in the wrapper. Is it better to store them with ammo in them or keep it out? I know many people will say keep them loaded and ready but i have 20 already loaded, just curious what is better for the mag.

I've always kept them loaded. About 2 weeks ago I pulled out some AR Mags that have been loaded since Katrina (2005), they functioned fine and the springs still feel good.

I have read numerous stories about 1911 mags that have been loaded since the 20's that have been found, and funcition just fine.

Leaving them loaded will not hurt them one bit. That being said, I do have a dozen still in the wrapper that I have never opened. I dont plan on opening them any time soon as I already have 40+ mags loaded and ready to go.

I leave all my mags loaded all the time. For the defense/carry mags, I figure if I ever need them I'll need them loaded. For the range mags, I hate loading mags while I sweat my ass off at the range so I loaded them up on the couch in the A/C then just grab what I need for a range visit.
