I used to do a lot of turtle culling on my family's pond in Ida, LA. I always used 30-06, for added fun, though. No neighbors there.

I have neighbors at my house now, though, and several turtles I don't want. Is .22 a sure dropper? I would think so, but I do my best to avoid wounding but not killing things, so I thought I'd ask.

pretty sure that it will blow them up fine.

though...instead of killing them you could catch them and release, or sell them as pets...

If they are under 4" they can not be sold as pets because of salmonella. They can be sold, however, for educational purposes.

I remember when I was young me and my grandpa would sit by a canal by his house and shoot the turtles with slingshots and watch them go away and then swim back up.

What a lot of the pet shops do is when you buy the set-up for the turtle you get the turtle for free with the purchase.

Its like scalping tickets. The tickets are face value but it requires you to buy the envelope they come in at an outrageous price.
