Carrying loaded pistol in car in N.O.

Howdy is it legal to carry a loaded pistol in my car in new orleans? I dont have a concealed permit (yet) and am taking a trip down there. Thanx for any help

Hell yes you can, and should. I even mounted a Comp-tac holster in my car.

Like GD said, be careful about leaving it in the car. Lock it up, hide it, whatever you can. And park in a parking lot with attendants if possible.

Yes he can in the village he lives in. But I guarantee the "fella" in the cop car does not know it is legal. And if he ever encountered someone with a CHP he wouldn't know how to act. I pass live a few miles from there and everytime I pass through, I hope I don't get stopped. Because I know it would cause mass confusion. They are clueless.

It is legal to carry a firearm anywhere in a vehicle in the state. But the city of new orleans is not happy about it. And their cops have been known to violate rights and take legally possesed guns.

BUT, to go there without one would be crazy.

actually, I lived there almost all my life and the cops are the coolest. As long as your not acting like a complete F'ing Moron in the streets they won't bother you. But, if you go to NOLA and try to act like a fool expect 12-24hrs at OPP. They are not in a hurry over there.

Watch out for the cops in NOLA, even if they don't take your gun they'll try to disassemble it without knowing how.
