Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning last November's Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000

Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million
    Republicans: 143 million

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
    Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Republicans won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

I think at least the murder rate number was embellished.

But the premise is correct. Landowners and independent taxpayers lean republican and the non-landowners and the leeches lean democrat.

And I don't have a source, but I heard that this last year, only 40% of americans paid federal income taxes at all.

The fall of the US starts with actually seeing if something is accurate:

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/ballot/athenian.asp

And spare the 'snopes is owned by teh liberals!!'. The people and information included is not correct, irrespective of what source they say it's from.

I knew officers weren't that quick, but you're making this too easy!

    There you go again!

Trying to cloud the issue with facts................

It's 6.5 for demo counties and 4.5 for repub counties.

Or 44.44% higher in dem counties.

And their explanation of the land figure is way off base. It goes into a comparison of donor/leeching based on the ratio of federal dollars paid and federal dollars spent in the state.

Notice the explanation has nothing to do with land (this is a bias of snopes coming through).

No matter what anyone says it's obvious this country is in financial trouble. This has been a long time coming through both Republican and Democratic administrations. No one had/has the intestinal fortitude to do whats right. It's all about getting re-elected no matter what the cost. No one wanted to deal with the Medicare and social security time bombs. Medicare is predicted to be bankrupt in 2017 and social security in 2037 according to Newsweek. http://www.newsweek.com/id/199167

Theres no finacial trouble. The stock market is up, and congress is going to raise the debt ceiling above $12T. As long as the fed keeps those printing presses oiled good, the party goes on.
