Looking to sell a used stainless steel Ruger Single-Six in .22lr only caliber, 5 1/2" barrel. I am looking to fund a project and need the funds so not interested in trades. FTF preferred cost is SOLD. Low cost due to not being a convertible model.

johngunguy@charter.net is my email address. I am located in Slidell and can meet a buyer if somewhat close by.

Can a 22mag cylinder be had from Ruger or is it truly 22lr only?

You can get a .22 mag cylinder and have a smith fit and time it, ( you can do it your self its easy). If it has a star " * " in front of the triger guard Ruger WILL NOT fit a magnum cylinder to it. These models came with just the lr cylinder and Ruger only will fit a convertable model

I checked the fame in front of the trigger guard and there is no star. Not saying that means anything because I am not very knowledgeable on Ruger models. Sorry Cujo not interested in trades. I want the money to build a long slide Glock21/10mm.

That's a sweet deal. If I didn't already have one in blue, I'd jump on it.
Go to rugerforum.com and post a want to buy for a 22 mag cylinder. Measure the length of the cylinder in place and match it up and it should work. Lots cheaper than getting one from Ruger. You have to send it in and I think I was quoted $150 for a new cylinder.
I got one off rugerforum for $50 and it dropped right in.

I have had one of the convertibles since 1976 (first pistol). I shot it for years with the .22 Mag. cylinder in place (kids want more power:D), but when I switched to using the .22 LR cylinder, I found that it shot much, much better (more accurate). I wouldn't hesitate to buy and use a .22 LR only Single Six.

With respect to getting a new cylinder, just make sure it times properly.

I got a PM request for the measurement of my cylinder which my caliper shows to be exactly 1.620" over all length. As I told the person requesting the info, even if the mag cylinder is the same length I would guess it would be a crapshoot if the hand were fitter properly to the other cylinder. But what do I know.

If you are ever up in the Monroe-Delhi area or close, I would take it (could meet somewhere...), but I don't have much free time, even on the weekends, to travel. Just in case...
