I have a buddy who is looking to buy an entry level AR in the next few days. We found a doublestar at bud's for 669.00 plus the 3% for CC. He is looking for a lat top / M4 preferably with a chrome lined barrel. Anyone know of any deals online or in the New orleans/Baton Rouge area?

The only thing that scares me about the bargain bin is: "trade-ins, demos, scratched, dented, discolored, over-runs, special buys, uglies, etc."

650 for a chrome lined is good, but if it is beat to hell, it isn't such a great deal.

    Thanks, and keep em comin.

I saw a vendor yesterday selling complete Rock River Arms lowers w/match trigger for $279 which sounded like a pretty good deal to me. I've been very happy with the RRA stuff I have.

This is exactly what I did.

    I couldn't be happier.

    $665 shipped.

    New In Box. Part Number:K16
    Buds Item Number: 38637

Quickly building it’s own reputation, the K16 is one of the best selling AR style rifles in the industry. This amazing little carbine comes with a free floated 16” button rifled barrel.

    Specifications
    Action Semi-Automatic
    Caliber 223 Remington/5.56 NATO
    Bbl Length 16"
    Capacity 30 + 1
    Trigger Single Stage
    Safety Thumb
    OAL 34 1/4"
    Weight 7 1/2 lbs
    Stock A2 W/Trapdoor
    Finish Black

You can then purchase whatever handguard or stock you want. I'm getting an ATI strikeforce grip and stock for $70 bucks, although some people really like the standard A2.

The free-floated barrel is VERY nice.

From the interweb searches, people seem to enjoy those bargain bin rifles.
Seems some people even got brand new rifles.
Good plinkers and starter rifles for noobs.

The only complaint has been a couple of scratches around the sharp edges, but that has been all.

CMMG test fires the rifle before they ship.

They are plain Jane and functional.

    Carry handle added.

Help me out here... doesn't that "complete lower" from ma parts need a bolt carrier group and charging handle? AR Newb here but I see no reference that and it's not clear in the pic. So it would add about $120-$130 to the price. Right?

I'm simply curious as I started a build and learning. thx

Maybe so I didn't give it a good look over. I know they sell them with the bolt and bolt carrier group because it is where I got my first AR upper. LMT makes them I believe. Hope that helps

The BCG (bolt carrier group) is part of the upper. A complete lower includes a lower, lower parts kit (handle, trigger, hammer, etc), and stock assembly. A complete upper includes an upper (with dust cover and forward assist), a barrel, gas system, bcg, and charging handle. Everything on an upper is easy to see in a picture except for the bcg. A "complete" upper should include it. If a upper assembly has a chrome lined barrel and cost $315, I'd say there's no bcg in it. You'd have to call to be sure though.

The best price I've seen on a complete lower, as well as stripped uppers and lowers, is from Aero Precision.

I put one of their uppers on my AR a couple months ago. It fits almost too tight for the push pins. I can just push them through. Also, I've read that Aero Precision makes Spikes and Noveske lowers. Not sure if it's true though.
