... if Louisiana plays its cards right.

The Illinois Legislature is heading toward banning the sale of certain firearms statewide - and they could drive 4 manufacturers to look elsewhere for a place to make guns.

    Partial quote:
The legislation would affect four area gun manufacturers -- Springfield Armory and ArmaLite in Geneseo, Rock River Arms in Colona and Lewis Machine and Tool in Milan -- that employ several hundred people. Gun manufacturers say the bill -- and other repeated gun legislation attempts -- put undue stress on their workers while failing to solve the problems associated with crime.

    <SNIP>

State Rep. Pat Verschoore, D-Milan, plans to vote against the bill. Some of the weapons it would ban are used for deer and turkey hunting, he said. Bill opponents also say it could precipitate the loss of Illinois gun manufacturers.

ArmaLite owner Mark Westrom is weighing that move. His Geneseo company, which makes .50-caliber rifles and other firearms, employs 75 people.

If they pass this, it will be time to get Louisiana's office of Economic Development working.

The manufacturers should do a preemptive strike and pull out of Illinois, anyway- taking jobs with them.
    Screw those maniac politicians...

Sounds like another CA in the making. On the up side, most residents that are worth a damn will move elsewhere.

California must be UNBELIEVABLY BAD....Guns and Ammo Magazine pulled out of Calif- only to move to Illinois!!!

My guess is eventually they will have to leave there, as well....

Tom Mannard, executive director of Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, said he is seeking compromise between legislators and gun manufacturers. Gun bans can minimize dangerous risks throughout Illinois, he said.

"Most residents, whether they're from Rock Island or Moline, would tell you they believe weapons like AK-47s and AR15s are probably not the type of weapons that should be sold to anybody," he said. "I think the majority of people in our state say certain weapons are not appropriate to be in our community."

Idiots keep making statements "the majority" when there has been no canvass performed. The real failure is the press' continued acceptance of this garbage as fact and not challenging this wanker.

Not to mention this assclown proves our point. Look at the name of his "organization"....
How many times must we say: THEIR GOAL IS NOT AND HAS NEVER BEEN TO IMPLIMENT "SENSIBLE GUN LAWS". IT IS TO BAN ALL GUNS.

Already, you cannot hunt deer with a rifle in Illinois.

For all the things we gripe about here in LA, Illinois is a reminder that we have it good- and must fight to keep it that way.

That must be why Chicago is one of the safest cities in the country.
