    Good Afternoon;

    Ordered Speer .375 caliber bullets, weight 270 grain, boat tail soft point. Reviews claim this bullet is good for thin skin game. Should expect expansion at reduced speeds.

    Trying for 2300-2400 fps range. Hoping to keep recoil down at least a little. Powders on hand, IMR3031, IMR4198, H4831, H414 & 5744. Any suggestions? Thanks for any input.

    Not necessarily, "thin skin game" was mentioned. Back in the days when I was single and allowed to go hunting, I used that cartridge quite a bit. Mostly for bears, and large African antelopes. For whitetail size animal, if not hitting bones, it'll just punch a clean hole with no expansion.
    Only reduced recoils was mentioned. If that's the objective, just start by reduced powder halt grain at a time. Btw, I only used 3031.

    I load a 275 cast lead bullet to 1500 fps or so for deer. Shoot it in a 700 rem and ruger #1. Very comfortable

    good evening;

    thx for input.. imr data from an old manual was very informative. midway had a good price on Speer 275 grain bullets so why not.

    been shooting cast bullets sense 1970 and have 20+ molds. have 3 molds for the 375, with a 285 grain gas check Arsenal mold the most accurate. most accurate powders are Red Dot and Accurate 5744.

    thx gain for your information.
