So 6,000 rounds total through the upper and piston?

No, the upper has 2k and the piston which came off another gun has 4K. I installed that piston on the original weapon.
    Real nice piston system.

Thanks for clarifying that for me Todd.

It functions fine, I just want to build a 9mm upper to put on my SBR to use w/ my suppressor. Also, Osprey Defense has excellent customer service!

I will negotiate a little bit, but it's priced spot on.

So if put on my pistol lower then no buffer of any kind is needed? Can it be completely flat in the back?

No, you'd have to have a buffer tube, it just doesn't have provisions for putting a stock blade on it. The pistol buffer tubes are typically foam covered. Maybe someone can chime in and tell us who makes them.

I have ar pistols and understand pistol buffer tubes, but if this has a piston system then why is a buffer tube needed? Or is this not the gas piston system I am thinking of?

Even with a piston system, it still has a full-length BCG. The piston system replaces the gas tube and pushes the BCG rearward; it is still buffered & uses the buffer spring to return it to battery.

Ok I'm confused.... If I were to have a piston AR rifle couldn't I have a folding stock on it? How is this system different for an ar pistol? ( no I'm not looking to put folding stock on pistol, just trying to figure out how it will work for a rifle but not a pistol) thanks,

In this case the piston replaces the gas tube only. The recoil spring is still located in the but stock.
