Yeah, yeah, I know: some of you are asking "Dude, WTF is up with you and all the ARs?" Can I help it if I find it's just as fun to build them as to shoot them?
So anyway, here's my latest project, an AR chambered in 5.45x39:
In case you've been living under a rock for the last couple of years, you know the price of ammo, especially 5.56/.223 has gone through the roof. Fortunately, some ammo is still semi-reasonable, so I decided to take advantage of that and had a couple of AR barrels made in 5.45x39, which is still less than $100/case. Obviously, I'm keeping one of the barrels for a future build, but I decided to spread the goodness around and that's why this one is up for sale.
The Specs:
16" 5.45x39 light contour barrel, mid-length gas system
Matched 5.45x39 bolt
M16 (heavy weight) bolt carrier
Lauer Custom lower (used because it doesn't have cal. markings )
Armalite internals
A2 (rifle length) buffer and stock (with trapdoor)
Barksa 1.25-4.5x scope and rings
NO MAGS! Sorry, but you're on your own with the mags. I've been using 6.8SPC mags, but you can only get about 20 rounds into them; if you load any more you start to get FTEs. Supposedly S&W and CProducts have mags, and it IS possible to use regular AR mags, but your chances of getting them to work reliably are pretty iffy.
Price is firm, but I'll knock $50 off if you don't want the scope. If you're not keen on the configuration, let me know and we can work something out. I can build them mild or wild.
