age for hanguns question

i was wondering what age do u have to be to own a handgun? I think i read 18 to buy a handgun from a private party, and 21 to buy one from the dealer. so please give me the correct info with a link to the louisiana web site for the law. thanks!!!

sweet so if i sell my friend a pistol of mine and he is 19 how would i put the gun in his name or would it really matter? I also heard that your name would only stay in the system when you buy a gun for like a week?

I have guns that are not in my name, I purchased them in private sales from people I trusted so I know they arent stolen. The only reason I can see that the registered owner must be in possession of the firearm is if it is a Class III.
