Well it all started out with a N.E.W. M91 that I picked up at a gunshow for $75 and hopes to restore.
Well, I kept an eye open for a replacement stock and about a year or so later a M91 parts gun poped up for sale. I knew the guy that had the rifle. He said that it was a N.E.W. but a non shooter and the stock had a crack. But all the parts were there and the rifle looked nice.
When asked how much he wanted for it he said that I could have it for what he had in it, $100. Well to me a cracked stock is no problem, it is harder for me to do one of these post then it is for me to fix a stock.
So I sent the check and the rifle came in. OMG! It was love at first sight and then I cried, yes I really cried.
Well here is the rifle.
Yes, that is six US Property stamps on the barrel shank.
The sights still have the original paint in the numbers and there is still cosmoline on the rifle.
And here is the English contract stamp.
This is the only damage to the stock.
And here is where the tears start. The rifle was demilled at one time and someone tried to fix it and screwed up the chamber. The bore is like new.
This is the cleanest all original M91 I have ever put my hands on.
I didn't have the heart to part out the rifle and I have turned down good money for it. I know that I could have the chamber sleeved but I will keep it as is.
I really love this rifle even thoe I know that I will never shoot it.
