With the election coming up, and the feeding frenzy already starting, I don't think anyone doubts we'll see ammo prices go up over the next 6 months or so. Successful investors consider a 5% gain a good investment, while in '08 we saw ammo prices increase 20-40% in a lot of cases.

So...is anyone purchasing ammo strictly as an investment? Seems like an obvious winner, because it certainly won't go DOWN in price.

I'm considering going in with a couple others on a nice chunk of ammo ($10-20K worth). It's not a huge amount, but enough buying power to get a good price and be in the positive right off the bat.

What ammo would you consider being the best investment? I'm thinking Federal 5.56 XM193, surplus 5.45x39, 7.62x39, 9mm and .45 Federal HST/Winchester Ranger.

I like the idea, but I'd have to buy it in a caliber I don't shoot, or else I'd never sell it... but then I'd just end up buying a gun in that caliber.

Yeah I can't see that doing anything but costing me more money :mamoru:

What do you think the trend will be on reloading components (brass, bullets, etc)?

I'm stock piling more so, because I believe very strongly that the next major war will be fought on American soil and ill be damned if I'm not ready. :) even if I'm wrong about the next war, its only a matter of time...

I think asking nicely that people not attempt to make money on the whining, crying "obama is a muslim atheist commie with a suitcase nuke full of aids infected needles" crowd would be cruel and unusual to those of us looking to exploit their delicious fear.

I would buy some as an investment, but I couldn't sell it on here. Apparently Monroe is about 50 miles past outer space to South LA folks.

That's what Gunbroker is for. In '08 I was buying Ranger .45 for $26/box and selling it on GB for $55-65 + shipping. One guy even bid it up to $80. :o

My son has been after me to get a class 6 license so we could sell reloads, I thought about that today again but using Bayou Bullets, and sell reloads for .380, .38 special, 9mm, .40, and .45. I'd have to invest in a Dillon 1050 due to all the WCC and Fed NT brass I had to separate when using my 650. Could sell to local ranges for practice ammo. What y'all think? Good investment? I could start reloading and stock piling before the election and build up my stock. If election works out I could keep for myself.
