I just read an article from a firearms expert that you can shoot .380 rounds in a 9x18 Makarov in an emergency.

Are there any other "swaps" that could be made with regards to other guns and calibers that anyone is aware of?

Be interesting to know, just in case.

I had a friend that shot a whole mag of .380 out of my G17 one time. He came back over to me and said "I thought Glocks were supposed to be bad-ass. This piece of crap jammed every single shot, and I had to pull the slide back each time". upon further inspection, he loaded the mag w/ the wrong ammo. *I'm not recommending this, just stating something that happened in the past that came to mind when you mentioned .380 & 9x18mm*

    Things not to do.:
I've seen 9mm in a .40 followed by a .40 - bad deal! (This is the what I think happened)
5.45x39 Wolf Steel Case in a .223 - got away with it sorta.
Both were accidentally loaded, not intentionally done.

In general if it doesn't work being an emergency won't make it OK.

I had a link to one with pics but don't recall it offhand.

Well, you know what they mean by an emergency. It is Armageddon and the "gangs" are everywhere. Your Mak is out of ammo and the guy lying in front of you had a .380 that was run over by a truck but he had some ammo on his person. So, rather than have nothing, the Mak guy loaded the Mak with one round at a time of the .380 and was able to make his way to a hideout.

Something like that. In this day it's nice to know these things.

That would be a good day not have a gun that "Blowed up real good". Seriously in SHTF not getting injured would by you 1st priority.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think I read you can shoot 9mm out of a .357 or .38 revolver if you use "moon" clips.

Depends very much on the gun. There are some .357/.38 revolvers that will shoot 9mm with moon clips without any problem, but I certainly wouldn't make a habit of it, and I would only do it with revolvers if the manufacturer says it's kosher. On the other hand, if it were an emergency, yeah, I wouldn't be too scared to shoot 9mm out of a handgun chambered in .357/.38.

^^^^ would not be good! 7.62 x 39 is usually .311 or .312 diameter instead of .300! You could probably get away w/ .30 carbine or .30/30 or even .243 (same bolt face but wouldn't be accurate). I'm not sure about 7.62 x 54R though. You could get away w/ 7.62 x 39 in a .303 British. I've thought about rechambering a #4 in x39 before even.
