ive had a little success using one, but I am mostly interested in the rules and regs regarding them.

it seems as though you cant use one south of I-10, and that you need to purchase a trap license for 20 bucks? is anyone familiar with this? I am going to email WDF to find out more. I also saw that there was a minimum size limit on catfish, but it says that you could have up to 25 of 100 undersized. that confused me. I always thought there was no size limit on catfish.

no sir, but i do set out home made "HOMES". i use old metal ducting, close 1 end, leave the other side open. the cat goes in and finds a home. you pull it up, with the catfish. so really its not a trap!. the fish can swim out anytime, but once they nest in there, it wont leave. but for me, its just two much work. i perfer to use rod and reel.
