AR front sight

I've got a barrel I'm trying to match a front sight tower to. I got 2 but one is for a pistol caliber barrel (no gas port). The one with the gas port the taper pin holes are too far up and too big. The one without a gas port has the taper pin holes in the right spots but I can't use it with the 5.56 build. I don't want to buy up every front sight out there till I find the right one. How do I tell which one is which? I never knew there was a difference.

BTW anyone got a carbine gas tube with pin laying around?

Your best bet might be to get a FSB that mounts with alan head set screws.

this was going to be my last alternative

I like my FSB pinned in place if I can help it. If I go the other route I'll just get a gas block.
